Mid week National League game

(Oldest Posts First)

It seems to be ok for U/21 championship games to be played midweek under lights so why not have the odd televised national league game midweek when two counties who are in close proximity to each other play off on a Tuesday or Wednesday night? Would be something to watch during the week and a good advertisement for GAA.

If I remember correctly players were opposed to Friday nights due to work commitments , god knows what they make of a match ?

not a bad suggestion but there are a few downsides

-not condusive for travelling fans , and esp not so with kids (ie school in the morning ) - when 21s hurling is on - the schools are usually off
- was in cork last night for 21s game - after going to close took me while to get to sleep so bit knackered this am

maybe do it on a friday -give the players the weekend off -but remember the furore a few years back when laois played carlow on a friday night, our hurlers played offaly on a thursday night in 2003 crowd of only around 7k

but i saying that i was very glad to get a bit of midweek gaa -maybe there is room for a midweek highlights show - maybe a comagie/ladies football one

When players turn professional then we can expect them to play mid-week games. Posters above seem to be concerned only about spectators.

I would enjoy mid week games. However the Tyrone Donegal game went on to 10 last night and I didn't have to travel too far to get home. Donegal ones wouldn't of been home till very late.
Floodlights an issue maybe? I suppose most counties have lights now.
