Is there ever anyone doing a cost/benefit analysis of this stuff? I mean let's say it's a small village/town what's the justification of say having a restaurant running in a clubhouse hoping it will bring in money. Is there people around at 1pm looking for a bit of lunch??
It wouldn't take much common sense to gage a potential customer base for this kind of stuff.

I can't understand people building something that is not needed. Dublin clubs would never get a GAA grant to build a clubhouse - especially the ones you describe County borad would be broke in no time. BTW in big built up areas it is hard work getting people in to clubhouse bars and function rooms. But debt is a growing problem one sure fire way to avoid it is to not build something no one will use, be it a county centre of excellence, a huge county ground or a clubhouse along the lines you describe.
