Sky Sports Now Showing Sunday Matches

(Oldest Posts First)

With Sky getting the rights to the Limerick V Clare munster hurling semi final on June 4th is this the first steps to them taking control of all matches I wonder? Until now all the provincial championship coverage was on a Saturday evening but with this one being a 4pm throw in on a Sunday it seems they now have a pick of any match they want.

I am not against the Sky coverage as such but for them to have exclusive rights to a Munster championship game on a Sunday afternoon is disappointing. I fear it won't be long before there are weekends when they will have rights to all games with RTE not showing anything bar highlights.

I hope they get every match and RTE are left with nothing at all. The Sunday Game coverage is useless anyway. I watch live soccer when there is a good game on. I don't do pay-per-view TV.

You don't do pay per view but hope they give all the games to Sky. So you have no issue missing all the games that are shown on tv?

The Munster council released it last night. 4pm throw in on the Sunday of the June bank holiday weekend with Sky having exclusive coverage.

Don't mind him. He's either drunk or off his head. There isn't an amateur organisation in the world that will ever have coverage like we are lucky to have in this country. It's phenomenal when you think about it

Wow, sky are showing a sunday game, were all doomed. Big deal that there showing a sunday match, there still showing the same amount as the last deal, RTE still have the majority of games

I don't get the furore over this they have been showing championship matches for what three years ? Is it just because they got a munster hurling game people are only whinging now what about two football quarter finals they have got each year they are bigger games.
If they have rights for games they should do Sunday games too it's a pity eir sport aren't doing the same and we wouldn't be stuck with them ruling the roost over league games like Dublin v Kerry having to be played in a 10 thousand stadium that cannot satisfy demand when there's a 50 thousand stadium already in the county not going to be used instead.

I suppose what has annoyed people is the GAA not being honest about the sky deal. They said it was for the Irish abroad ( who were able to see the games live anyway) and to showcase it to the World ( a bit ironic showing it to the World means not showing it to the Irish who don't have Sky).

It is all about the money end of, which you can argue about is a good or bad thing, but they need to stop treating people like fools.
