With a joint membership of up on 60,000 members is it not time now that these to merged if they both have player welfare, fairness and equality at heart. Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 28/02/2017 14:03:50 1962094 Link 0 |
There are roughly 2100 GPA members. So of a combined 60k, that's only 3.5%. Given that these are the players who bring in the big bucks to HQ, and that they represent a small percentage, i think a joint organisation would suffer from internal disputes of intercounty vs club interests with the clubs ultimately losing out. The CPA was set up to exist as it's own entity and can only serve the ordinary club player if left as so. Both should have a separate voice at the top table. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5012 - 28/02/2017 14:26:10 1962112 Link 0 |
The CPA is deeply flawed in who is representing us. You have Nolan, Kernan and Griffin who have spent most of their seasons only training intercounty or with intercounty teams. An early recipe for disaster in my opinion. All are also from successful counties. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 28/02/2017 15:59:57 1962164 Link 0 |
The GPA have clearly stated they are for the inter-county player. The CPA are best off plotting their own course. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7840 - 28/02/2017 18:12:17 1962250 Link 0 |
Merged?? Are you off your rocker? The GPA are responsible for a lot of what's gone wrong for the club player, a lot of what has led to the CPA. The GPA had the opportunity to represent all players when it was set up, but refused to because it is by design elitist. They are now at the stage where they are GAA stooges, more interested in the few quid than player welfare. icehonesty (Wexford) - Posts: 2550 - 28/02/2017 18:27:35 1962261 Link 2 |
