Remember all the shenanigans from Meath v Louth in 2010... Louth over and over again looking for a replay. bananaskin (Monaghan) - Posts: 47 - 13/02/2017 13:28:52 1956119 Link 0 |
The replay has been confirmed for this Sun in Navan. Martin Sludden is the ref and Throw Sheridan will be in nets for Longford.

It's all sorted now. Spec savers are providing the umpires, Tommy Tiernan and Hector are linesmen. ged (Louth) - Posts: 296 - 13/02/2017 14:05:36 1956145 Link 0 |

Big difference here....Louth didn't cheat...... county man (Limerick) - Posts: 1102 - 13/02/2017 21:55:07 1956426 Link 0 |
The ref made a mistake in this game, same as the Christy Ring Final last year. Regarding the 2010 Lenister final there was a number of issues but technically if Joe Sheridan played the in same way in any other part of the pitch it would be perfectly OK so therefore it was a legitimate goal. It was wrong of the Lenister Council, the Meath County Board and the Hierarchy of the GAA to hide behind the Meath Players. The carry on of some Louth supporters after the game meant a replay was never going to be granted, you dont yield to bullies. Antrim got a replay last years as they went the right way about it.

Completely different situation.

It's a league match, and therefore relatively unimportant compared to a Christy Ring final or Leinster final. I doubt even the Longford players want to go through having to play it again. uibhfhaili1986 (Offaly) - Posts: 1296 - 14/02/2017 12:38:45 1956618 Link 1 |
As soon as the ref blew the final whistle Longford players followed by management remonstrated with him. Why could he not have conferred with his own officials & restart the match if the conclusion was there was more time to be played? keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 14/02/2017 13:06:46 1956630 Link 0 |
And do ya know what, neither did Meath....

Fist passing a goal isn't allowed never mind throwing it over the line!

Ah but he didn't mean to throw it over the line, it was a frantic scramble Joe probably was as surprised as anyone when it was given. Sanchez didn't deliberately elbow the ball in to the hull net on Saturday but it was given by the officials and he took it.

A technical foul isn't cheating. Is a pick up off the ground 'cheating'? Same level of seriousness.

Just for the record. It has been reported that the referee decided that 3 mins was the stoppage time but due to heavy passing of wind, the lads on the line heard 4 mins. ged (Louth) - Posts: 296 - 14/02/2017 20:04:02 1956811 Link 0 |
No legal reason to offer a replay as time was up. The 1998 situation between Clare and Offaly was different as 70 minutes were not up. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1669 - 14/02/2017 20:23:04 1956818 Link 0 |

The umpires and, by their inaction, Central Council cheated Louth out of that game not Meath, the fact that they left Meath hang out to dry without ever attempting any proper resolution to the matter themselves shows both cowardice and incompetence, clean up your own mess when you make one do not clean up the mess of others....
