I've been opposed to him for the length of term he's there and I'll oppose him until he's gone Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 10/02/2017 10:47:46 1954298 Link 1 |
Wickla GAA....always good for a laugh... witnof (Dublin) - Posts: 1604 - 10/02/2017 11:22:33 1954306 Link 0 |
Wicklow football seems to be in a bad spot at the minute. There will be those looking for a head an Magee is in the hot seat. The only way out is to start winning. The young lads that are coming through May well be the future but whether or not Magee is around for any fruits they bear is a long shot. They are a small county and will always struggle but to be talking that rubbish shows no ambition and is certain to yield nothing. They'd be better off without that guy. Couldn't believe what I was reading, pure claptrap from start to finish. A club player is expected to do a good warm up these days never mind an intercounty team. He obviously harks back to a time when players were thrown a jersey, stubbed out their fag and let a good roar out of them about getting stuck into these bxxxxxxs before taking their positions for the throw in. benched (Tyrone) - Posts: 534 - 10/02/2017 11:58:10 1954320 Link 2 |

How dare McGee for having ambition and wanting to prepare players correctly! :) ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 10/02/2017 12:50:14 1954347 Link 0 |
I've a bit of an insight into this. All I'll say is I can understand the Wicklow delegates concerns. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4172 - 10/02/2017 14:25:19 1954400 Link 0 |
There are delegates on many County Boards around the country who are not happy with the amounts of money being spent on preparing teams and are quite happy to see their team make a quick exit from the c'ship. I know of one county delegate who wanted to see his county follow the example of Kilkenny and withdraw from the c'ship

Wicklow not a small county compared to other counties who are doing and have some far better them in the past the problems seemed to be there long before the present management but it is always the case that managers from bigger counties who manage smaller counties get praised from the media no matter how bad of a job the do.

Care to elaborate? Longford regularly hammer Wicklow at minor & U21 football. I often wonder why that is...

Oh go on! Humour us. And if it stays up, great, and if it gets taken down, it gets taken down.

As a county Wicklow is ranked 16th in terms of population size (142k). It has a larger population than Mayo (130k), Clare (118k), Waterford (116k), Kilkenny (99k), Westmeath (88k) , Laois (84k), Monaghan (61k), and Roscommon (61k) -- counties that have made a notable impact in the championship in either hurling or football. Wicklow's population is only 5k less than Kerry's. It is an understatement to say that they punch way below their weight and are massive underachievers given their population. I get the impression though that the county is more or less a GAA wasteland and that the majority of people within the county have no interest in the games at all. what does that have to do with the price of eggs when it comes to training methods that Dublin would be proud of....????

The official is against the manager. That's what I have sympathy for. I think the delegate has the lost the run off himself with the comments he's making but his distrust in the manager is justified.
