Same old fare again this year. Would like to see a few clips from games down through the divisions. salvador (Roscommon) - Posts: 439 - 05/02/2017 22:35:46 1952476 Link 1 |
Dead right it may as well just be called Division one highlights. With the money that is around a 2 hour show would be just about right instead of 40 mins Div 1 and squeeze a few scores in from the rest in 20 mins GAAdundalk (Louth) - Posts: 641 - 05/02/2017 23:34:16 1952500 Link 1 |
Yeah watched it last night and agree with you. Also can someone please confirm the Rossie Tyrone result? Based on the coverage it looked like a cakewalk to Rossies?

Tyrone don't play ball with RTE so RTE don't play ball with Tyrone, laughable at this stage. It did genuinely from the coverage look like Tyrone lost by 4 or 5 points downredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 567 - 06/02/2017 09:16:15 1952544 Link 1 |
Eir Sport covered three games last Saturday night and are doing triple headers again during the year

It's pathetic. its basically a token show to keep the GAA heads relatively happy. the sports show on 2FM on a friday evening is the same. I was sickened listening to it friday. the co- presenter is a former soccer player and thats all he wants to talk about. the spent a lifetime talking rubbish about klopp and wenger and other premier league stuff you hear about day in day out, the even brought wolves into the coversation!!!!! then the spoke about the superbowl!!!! then there was a full 10 mins about the league starting this week which basically just covered the Dublin v Cavan game and mentions to Mayo and Kerry. that was it. not one word on the lower divisions or even the less important Division 1 games. Friday evening before the league and 10 mins is all it could get? theweanling (Cavan) - Posts: 414 - 06/02/2017 09:49:14 1952572 Link 1 |
I don't watch League Sunday because it's crap. Said it before and will say t again, TG4 put RTE to shame. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9073 - 06/02/2017 11:03:15 1952609 Link 3 |
I watch the first episode of League Sunday every year and then remember how crap it is!

needs less talk and more action, prefer the tg4 one myself, janesboro (Limerick) - Posts: 1502 - 06/02/2017 11:14:26 1952621 Link 0 |
What about Matt Cooper's token gesture to GAA on his one hour spirts show every Friday at 6pm?10 minutes with likes of Martin Carney Senan Connell and Peter Canavan. It's only starting before it's switching to the rugby.I would give it 1/10.Pathetic. RTE radio had extensive coverage of all Saturday evenings games with studio chat with Ray Cosgrove and interviews with Monaghan and Fermanagh management.I don't remember RTE having this every Saturday, last year.It will be on every week for the hurling and football leagues. Also, yesterdays radio coverage on RTE was excellent. They are getting better.Unfortunately for me they even had a reporter at Div 4 game Westmeath v Carlow who broke the crushing news that a late Carlow goal had scuppered my Sunday bet.I dont remember live reporters at Div 4 games but that's the way it should be.Honestly lads, the radio is where ye will get the best action.I have yet to see a ball being kicked due to work and i watched the German masters snooker final last night.I have RTE 2 Sunday League recorded and will catch up on it later today but RADIO GAA GAA is RTE's trump card! cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 06/02/2017 11:44:02 1952642 Link 1 |
A 90 minute programme would probably do it perfect hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 06/02/2017 11:53:00 1952649 Link 0 |
Is League Sunday repeated at all during the week? sportsfan14 (USA) - Posts: 281 - 06/02/2017 13:20:06 1952695 Link 0 |
Hillarious. We hammered Tyrone alright in the highlights!

Could they not put out an extended highlights show on RTE News Now similar to when the Olympics was on or even just on the rte player? They obviously have the footage, let people see it. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12103 - 06/02/2017 13:32:13 1952709 Link 0 |
there is way too many scores in games now..how often do we see where its 04 to 0-02 when the first score we actually see goes up on the board on our screens...hurling is worse..its 1-10 one minute the next score makes it 1-16 etc..RTE should have 2 programmes..one on Sunday night for Div 1 and 2 and one Monday night for Div 3 and 4.

Another thing they need to do is stop pretending the commentary is "as live". Heraf (Laois) - Posts: 316 - 06/02/2017 17:10:26 1952885 Link 0 |
I actually thought the rte radio coverage was horrendous yesterday too. The female presenter was completely lacking in knowledge. A former galway captain said he was surprised to see wicklow losing as he d seen they d just got a new sponsorship deal !!! And a former donegal player said he hoped down wouldnt end up in division 4. He obviously thinks that division should be reserved for the teams he believes are crap . Performances shouldnt matter. I despair. Malonemagic (Laois) - Posts: 753 - 06/02/2017 17:34:25 1952897 Link 0 |
My sentiments exactly. I've watched League Sunday episodes where they haven't even shown highlights of some of the games, just mentioned who won some fixtures. You'd swear Gaelic games were a minority sport going by the halfest of half a**e coverage it gets from the national broadcaster.
