Mickey Harte IMO insulted a very brave and skilful Tipperary team who reached the 2016 AI semifinals on merit. Harte totally ignores the fact his side would have had to beat Tipperary in a semifinal game that could go either way to reach a AIF to play Dublin. sam2008 (Tyrone) - Posts: 796 - 23/12/2016 08:39:03 1941837 Link 2 |
Don't get me wrong I like Tyrone but for some unknown reason they constantly have digs at Tipp. Peter Canavan dismisses them every chance he gets too

Reading the article again....the headline is totally misleading. He didn't say anything like what the headline said he did tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 23/12/2016 10:38:33 1941860 Link 3 |

most headlines these days are click-bait,but some won't bother reading the article and just form their own agenda's from the headline..

And you wonder why managers and players say as little as possible in interviews. The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2087 - 23/12/2016 15:07:31 1941913 Link 1 |
He doesn't mention Tipp once. He doesn't say that they'd have been in the final if they beat Mayo. The headline and opening line are a bit lazily written. Even then I don't think they're intended to mean what you're drawing from them. I think it only mentions getting past Mayo because that's where they stumbled. Read Harte's quotes on their own and all he is saying is that if they'd managed to get a crack at Dublin he feels they'd be competitive. No disrespect shown to anyone. "There's no guarantee that IF WE HAD BEEN THERE that we'd have won the game or IF it would have been much different. Maybe Dublin could have beaten us by more IF we'd been in the final, who knows? plenty of little indicators there that Mickey is speaking hypothetically about what MIGHT have happened had they met Dublin. This was abundantly clear to me, perhaps you should have a few days off yourself. SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2385 - 23/12/2016 16:11:01 1941923 Link 0 |

Exactly!!! and its the best policy as headlines like this one that wasn't even part of what was said in the article warp people's perceptions hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 23/12/2016 17:19:40 1941931 Link 0 |

Mickey Harte is very positive in his thinking and I doubt if he has ever played the poor me unlike some managers. I think this is deliberate and is intended for his players. Its certainly not disrespectful. I was of the same mindset if Tyrone had beat beat Mayo then there was a great opportunity while avoiding Dublin/ Kerry to reach the final and then anything can happen. To be fair I'm sure Tipp would have been glad to have avoided Dublin/Kerry too and would have been quite happy to have played Tyrone instead. Ifs and buts, Mayo put it up to them and Tyrone weren't good enough. Dublin would tank Tyrone at the minute. Sure Tyrone might be in top 5/6 teams in Ireland but that's purely by default as some counties have really fallen by the wayside. Headline was rubbish harte never said they would beat dublin he was very complementary of mayo nothing in it, always found harte well spoken. Always found him to be a gentleman. jacktheDub (Dublin) - Posts: 944 - 24/12/2016 21:05:34 1942028 Link 0 |
Just to let people know this guy has a massive chip on his shoulder regarding Tyrone and especially Micky Harte. Loves sticking the boot in. Take his posts with a pinch of salt

What did I say was outrageous. Mayo were better. Dublin are/could be the best team ever. There's no chip...just realism. GetOverTheBar (Tyrone) - Posts: 1388 - 25/12/2016 10:56:17 1942046 Link 0 |
From the Tyrone forum it's clear from your posts that you have an agenda against MH. It's clear to see. Any chance to stick the boot in you do. I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you because I know that's what you want. Probably best to leave it at that. Merry Christmas too you.
