RTE sports awards - stated Jim Gavin only second manager in 25 years to win back to back Sams

Who was the other one ?
Kerry 06/07 was two different managers o Connor and Pat o Shea - didn't think any else had won two all Ireland's since cork 26 years ago so by my reckoning he is the only manager in 25 years to do so

Don't even bother watching that anymore.
I heard Kenny got the manager haha They don't even bother showing league of Ireland on the news it's all premier league you would have to laugh at the logic, a vote in yeah I'm sure the votes are actually counted just another money making gimic like the Eurovision voting that is already decided, didn't McGregor do an interview from America with the trophy in his hand haha. An post must be doing sterling service these days.

Sports awards are just really stupid in my opinion.

The only prizes worth winning in sport are the ones won on the field of play.

I would agree with you but add just like the All-Stars, these awards are not won but given out by a select few individuals. In football and hurling the winning is on the field of play-not what is handed out.

Was hoping somebody other than eir sport would get the league games on Saturdays though, rte also took the whole radio rights, although means we don't have to listen to sheepy Parkinson so not all that bad. Sooner the better an irish sports tv channel gets up and running haha

Kenny deserves it.

Don't be surprised if Lam or Schmidt win it.

He is and he was a lot easier to listen to some of them on Off the Ball, doesn't take himself too seriously. Much easier to listen to than Carney or Carr on their rival station. His podcasts aren't bad either.

Sorry for the intrusion, but was it not Cork's double all ireland back to back success in 1989/90 under Billy Morgan

But joe Sheridan lining out in goal for the royals is it for real or just a headline grabber?

Let's be honest here, I personally would have loved JG to win the award and it would have been greatly deserved but there are other outstanding sporting achievements every year and in fairness to Kenny he has done a top job with Dundalk too. These awards are just another one that will rarely be agreed on and I doubt JG will be too bothered as he has the trophy that matters.

Pat Lam was another one . Connacht were very unlucky given the year they had and continue to have not to pick up an award .

Cork did the double in 1990. Tipp won Liam in 1989, and Cork won the football title.

He did for second half v Roscommon, it was completely left field, but I think everyone can agree previous manager got rid of experience players too quickly, here's one for you, the team that lost to Westmeath in 15 contained one player on the panel who beat dubs in 10 graham Reilly, and when he was black carded we had no one, and the cool head of experience when you 6 7 up is what was needed, we bring on a lad who just done leaving cert to steady ship, it just wont work, if we had someone like Joe, or cian ward it might have helped. That's the only reason I see Joe returning, Andy has tried out 50 players so far, and hasn't even had a look at u21 squad. Id say I Joe will be anything it's a 16, more to be in dressing room, p O'Rourke is injured, our reserve keeper is out for year, and Joe has played in goals for club, and was considered a very good keeper in his younger days, so why not I guess. Wonder the craic in Lowndes house if the two brothers play each other in Leinster final?? One for dubs one for Meath.

They win the second competition available. If Derry had of won the national league a couple of years ago I doubt Brian McIver name would have even made the list for manager of the year.
