2017 season, you call it

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

How do you think your county will do in 2017 in football and hurling and who will win Sam and Liam?
For Mayo in football it has to hold their place in Div 1 of the League and on the chase for Sam I see an All Ireland semi final defeat to Munster champs Kerry
Hurling would to love to see them win promotion in the League and a Christy Ring title but i'id say promotion from Div 2B and a Christy Ring semi final defeat
Football Leinster Dublin (no competition)
Munster Kerry
Connacht Mayo (Roscommon have a chance, can't see Galway winning 2 in a row)
Ulster Donegal (Ulster is a tough title to win, can't see Tyrone winning but that won't end their season)
All Ireland champs Kerry beating Tyrone who come through qualifiers
3 years is too long for Kerry without an All Ireland title
Hurling
Leinster Kilkenny
Munster Tipperary
All Ireland champs Kilkenny beating Waterford

Tipperary and Kerry for the big prizes.

There is a feeling in Kerry that we are going in the right direction and I think we could see considerable improvement next year.

Dublin will go out to Tyrone in the semi final and Jim Gavin will step aside, along with some of his key men of recent years. Having struggled to overcome Mayo in the semi, we will beat the northerners convincingly in the final, shepherding in a new era of Kerry dominance. Gooch will lift Sam as captain, and retire a legend. We will also win the minor and U21 titles.

No real conviction in this but I'll go with the two K's, Kilkenny and Kerry

You have to love the blind optimism of the Kerry boys. As for my own county, we (footballers) can't get relegated this season for a change. Will probably reach Leinster semi final or maybe final, and maybe a round or 2 in the qualifiers at best. Hurlers I would have more hope for, seem to have a few decent 21s coming through so hopefully they can make the step up and beat the cats at senior level this year!
In football I think it's Dublin's to lose, in hurling it's a toss up between a few teams, though it would be nice to see Waterford get their hands on Liam

From my own county in the league if we keep our Division three status. Wee are the bookies favorites to go down. In the Championship wee have Wicklow in the first round and then the winners play Meath. If we got to a Leinster semi-final I would be happy enough or a good run in the qualifiers.

In the hurling, I think that Tipp will have too much for the chasing crowd.

In football....wait for it...im gonna calll....Mayo for the All Ireland. AND i am putting my money where my mouth is and Im gonna throw 50 Euros on them. I seriously think there is one there for them this year. I fancy Tyrone to take out the dubs and lose to Mayo in the final. Cavan will make the Ulster final this year too!

They went '10, 11, 12, 13 without one.

Anyway - From a Cavan perspective, we have a huge task on our hands just to stay in Division 1. I do think we'll make the Ulster final but I think Tyrone are still improving and will win Ulster again.

So Ulster: Tyrone
Connaught: Mayo
Leinster: Dublin
Munster: Kerry

All-Ireland: Mayo beating Dublin in the final.

Hurling: Tipp beating Waterford in the final (Waterford to win in 2018)

Good man Greengrass. I would love to see that happening. It would be the first time ever that Liam and Sam went west across the Shannon together. History is there to be made.

Both finals to be very close.
Hurling - Waterford to beat Galway
Football Mayo (coming through the back door) to beat Tyrone
Dublin''s great run to come to an end but they will be back. Kerry will have to wait for their young talent to develop before they will become competitive again.

Leinster dubs (while Meath under Andy will give them one hell of a fight, we cant expect miracles in year 1)
Munster Kerry
Ulster Tyrone
Connaught Galway

All Ireland Dublin

Meath should get promoted that along with a last 8 appearance will do for Andy's first year.
