The Curse

Well the Chicago Cubs put there 108 year Curse of the Goat to rest and won the World Series last night. Can Mayo use this as motivation to win an all Ireland and banish the Curse of '51?

We're gonna wear a baseball mitt on both hands to stop us giving away the ball.

There is no curse

Just players that aren't good enough, but that shouldn't discredit their efforts to combat against such

Forwards are lacking and you're not going to win the biggest prize with the scoring average that they achieved this year.

Their strength lies in a defensive structure, turning over ball and counter attacking, they aren't a balanced side at present, all of their all stars came from defence

Not one forward made the grade

Nothing to do with a curse, they don't score enough and continually have awful wide's in big games, year after year.

There's a lack of required skills, and it's been that way for a long time.

Although after their efforts this year, for the first time in my life I wouldn't mind seeing them win one, hopefully at Kerry's expense

This was the year of the underdog Leicester winning premier league, Connacht winning pro 12, Chicago Cubs winning world series, Mayo in football and Galway in hurling missed their chance, old Moore predicted it. 108 years waiting for a final victory, doesn't make our 66 years look too bad

Old Moore is some chancer.Reminds me of a 3-card-trick merchant i had the misfortune of meeting many a year ago.About as genuine as a 3 pound note.

Somehow have got to 8 all Ireland finals in 27 years with no leaders and a team of bottlers. Won countless times on the pitch in croke in that time too remember with no leaders!

Curse or no curse, the Cubs' manager or whoever he was was right. Tradition is all good and all, but curses and superstitions are a load of baloney. It's down to the players and management to deliver the goods. Swapping out All Star goalies, failing at kick-outs and missing frees won't win you All-Irelands, just like not being nice to a priest on the road won't make you lose All-Irelands.

As sure as God made green apples, Mayo will win the All Ireland and maybe sooner than people think.

The only curse on Mayo is that them feckin Dubs and Kerry lads are that bit better than us. When we're good enough we'll win it.

Jimbobdub, you are spot on with that comment, couldn't agree with more.

A lack of required skill?! Ah here Jimbo... They went toe to toe with possibly the greatest team ever for 160 mins and came out 1 point behind!

You're right though. There is no curse.

Although the Mayo county board should probably motion that next year's final be played in Chicago, just in case.

I'd say the only curseing done is at the final whistle. The air must be blue in that Mayo dressing room.
