Dick Clerkin was the longest serving GAA player before he retired. I believe Sligo Mark Breheny is now. Any idea's of who's chasing Breheny?

I maybe wrong but I think that Mickey Linden holds the record of 22 years, followed by Colm O'Rourke on 21 years. Has Andy Mallon from Armagh not being togging out for them since 2001 also? How long is Andy Moran representing Mayo?

Don't be surprised if somewhere like Kilkenny have footballers playing into their 40's under the radar. That's a complete guess. Probably a similar story with some hurlers with less traditional hurling counties.

I assume this tread means longest serving county player. You have long serving county players who end up playing senior club football for a considerably longer time and you have county players in the past who prolonged their county years by playing little league football. I think that Mickey Linden is the longest at senior county level and he continued for a good few years at senior club level. Colm O'Rourke played senior inter county from 1975 to 1995 and continued playing for about 2 years after at club level.

In hurling it would possibly be Tony Browne followed by maybe John Fenton (1987 and retired in1975). I think that Sean Cavanagh played his first game against Armagh in 2002. It would be more interesting to be able to name the player who had the longest spell of continuous games with their county without a break (resting or injury) . Some of the players being mentioned as having long playing careers had long lay offs due to injury.

Yeah I think Christy Toye is the 2nd longest but in saying that he had 2 years out when he was injured.

Correction! -I obviously put John Fenton term wrong way around as he obviously did not retire before he started - many would fall into that category. Fenton started in 1975 and retired in 1987.
