Mouth guard - Rule Confirmation

(Oldest Posts First)

Can someone please confirm whether or not it is compulsory to wear a mouth guard in senior football games? I thought it wasn't but a colleague reckons it is. He says there was a player booked earlier this year for not wearing one. Also heard that paul Galvin said he didn't like wearing one and diarmuid Connolly doesn't wear one. So is it a yellow card offence not to wear or is it optional.
Is this something similar to the wearing of helmets in hurling?
