If your team loses on Sunday...

(Oldest Posts First)

Will you stay around to applaud the opposition and watch them lift Sam ?

Personally, I just cant see Dublin losing, But when asked last night if I would stay and watch Mayo lift the trophy if they won, I gave a fairly quick reply of "absolutely".

Mayo have lost 7 finals in a row. For this team to come back again and again from heartbreak to reach another final, there is something admirable about that and I don't think anyon could actually begrudge them their day in the limelight should they win. I would be surprised if a lot of Dublin fans didn't stick around to congratulate Mayo people and the Mayo team if they win. Infact id be abit disappointed if we didn't stick around. Easy to show a bit of class in victory, its a little bit harder in defeat but id expect genuine Dublin fans to swallow their pride and stick around.

On the other side of the coin, If Dublin win, We will be witnessing a team win a back to back for the first time in 10 years, and only the second time since the very early 90's. It's not an easy thing to do. They will likely be spoken about in the same breath as the great Dublin team that won back to back under Heffo in 76/77. They will be deserving of a huge amount of respect.

So, those of you going to the game, Will you stay or go if your team loses ?

I'll stay to applaud the Dubs for another great year and I'll applaud Mayo for having reached the promised land. But I won't hang around for the hoisting of Sam as want to get a seat in The Flowing Tide before the rush starts.

If we had have lost to Kerry in 2011 or 2015 then I would have left. Nothing against Kerry or anything but just that I've seen that al before.

If we has have lost to Mayo in 2013 I would have stayed to see a bit of sporting history.

So if Mayo win on Sunday I'll certainly be staying around.

I'll be staying around yea.

I think it shows a bit of class to stay around. Especially seen as itd be Mayos first in 65 years and the amount of finals they've lost to get there.

I would be gutted but.

Those that leg it, fair enough each to their own.

I have never left early and I don't intend to start now. Hopefully it won't be an issue for me ;)

.......ha and don't forget Michelle Mulherin as Patti Scialfa. Oh wait, Michelle didn't get a ticket, so she keeps telling us anyway. I wonder how many Mayo people would stay if the Dubs win. Back to backs would also be a bit of history.

I must admit I left straight after the final whistle in 2013. I think it was all the noise coming from the hill, it was too much for the white man. It was the first time I didn't wait for the presentation. I remember going onto the pitch in 97 and shaking hands with some of the Kerry lads. That O Connell lad from Meath nearly ran me down in 96 doing his lap of honour with the cup. I loved the whole going on to the pitch experience and for me the new system hasn't half the appeal. I was never a good loser and I can't blame anyone who just wants to get out of there in a hurry.

On the Springsteen theme the Boss man himself did shout 'Mayo 4 Sam" from the stage in Croke Park back in May ;)

Could well be. We'll probably do the rounds of a few places. Confession Box and the Flowing Tide will probably be on the list!

Yeah Flowing Tide, Confession Box (outside more than likely) across to the Palace and back on the street at Mulligans I'd say.
