Most siblings on one All Ireland (county) team

(Oldest Posts First)

Someone mentioned to me recently that Clare will field in the Intermediate All Ireland football final with four Dixon sisters.
(The Dixon Chicks? Anyone???).

Has this ever been done at county level before?

What's the record at club level. I know there were five Meehans on the 2003 Caltra team, seven? Burkes on St Thomas' 2013 team and a load of Fennellys on the Ballyhale Shamrocks teams in the early 80s.

Anyone know?

Alan, Bernard and Paul as brothers were all on the 2011 AI winning panel. Same 3 play in Oliver Plunkett's. You'd imagine the 3 McGrath's are all on the senior team in Loughmore-Castleiney too.

All seven of the Fennelly brothers played in the Ballyhale Shamrocks team that won the 1983 All Ireland Senior Club Championship. Four of the brothers played in the Kilkenny team that won the Leinster Championship in 1986.

Three brothers seems pretty common. In Roscommon there is the 3 Dalys and 3 Murtaghs. The 3 Brogans in Dublin and of course the O Se men in Kerry

There seems to be a number of circumstances where club sides had a rake of siblings on the team. Not too many county teams. The Fennellys were mentioned in convo yesterday, but they never reached an All Ireland. It's some achievement having four siblings on a county team.

As a Laois man, you should know that the 4 Delaney brothers, Bill, Chris, Jack and Mick played in the 1936 All-Ireland football final.

Breens for NaP last year all played the full game - Kieran, Adrian and David (who have all played championship hurling for Limerick but not at the same time)

My mate Niall Delaney, from the great Tooreen club, hurled one game for Mayo with his brothers Pat, George, Ruairi,Fergal and Brian. Pat, the vet, played in goal and kept the phone there when he was on call. The brothers hurled for years for club and county.

Not close to being a big name hurling county. In many ways they are great Gaels playing hurling for little or no reward.
