Maybe I'm imagining things but I really thought both teams behaved like proper sportsmen.. There were big hits but little of the sledging and off the ball cynical stuff we saw last week. That's how sport should be played. Welll done Tipp ...a pity about Bubbles' expletive at the end though. avonali (Dublin) - Posts: 1974 - 04/09/2016 17:14:27 1909885 Link 2 |
You are completely right.

Disagree on John O'Dwyer's (calling him his nickname makes me cringe) use of colorful language. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 04/09/2016 17:36:04 1909892 Link 1 |
See nothing wrong with his 'expletive'. Heat of the moment stuff. Kids hear far worse in the stands or out on the streets playing. If they don't want players swearing on TV don't interview them seconds after they've just won the All Ireland when emotions and passions are running high. So Micheal conlon can course his head off and he becomes a legend and bubbles uses one foul word. Classic Ireland 222 (UK) - Posts: 691 - 04/09/2016 17:49:23 1909896 Link 0 |
I think Bubbles will be remembered for his performance today not his words. Well done to him and Tipp for a fantastic team performance. ZUL10 (Clare) - Posts: 693 - 04/09/2016 17:50:29 1909897 Link 0 |
Agree with wayne. This on pitch interviews r stupid. End it now. No apologies necessary for bubs Liamwalkinstown (Dublin) - Posts: 8166 - 04/09/2016 18:04:59 1909900 Link 1 |
Come on, last week was a hard fought battle. There really wasn't much nonsense. Two teams going hard at it. Ok there was a pic of Walsh screaming in Cluxton's face but I mean sometimes passions run a bit high. It's great that players are so passionate. That's also why I wouldn't criticise O'Dwyer. This week and last week were both great examples of how good our games are. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4207 - 04/09/2016 18:06:25 1909902 Link 0 |
Brilliant attitude by both teams. No dirt, no off-the-ball stuff and no play-acting, just tough, honest hurling. Gaillimh_Abu (Galway) - Posts: 996 - 04/09/2016 18:19:25 1909905 Link 0 |
Totally agree, except for the bubbles thing. Let the boy off. Fair play to both teams. Real men. Unfortunately alot of people in football seem to think that off the ball violence and pre meditated taunting about family members and such like is a sign of manliness. Id rather go to war with the Tipp and Kilkenny hurlers any day of the week. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 04/09/2016 18:37:39 1909914 Link 0 |
Apologies for what? That's passion, cursing is not only for aggression or insults, it's also used when expressing one's delight or passion. What the f*** was Ger Canning apologising for? realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8585 - 04/09/2016 18:45:02 1909918 Link 1 |
Bubbles' expletive sounded contrived. It's been done before on live TV Bubbles.. liner (Mayo) - Posts: 756 - 04/09/2016 18:48:13 1909920 Link 0 |
You may as well forget about it there will be divin pulling and eye gouging on the 18th and whoever comes out on top the winning supporter won't care! l actually hope a football match doesn't break out. If Mayo win by every kind of cheating I won't care we have been cheated enough over the years. Kerry, Dublin, and Galway aren't the top three in all Ireland wins by alway playing lovely football they have cheated when they had to. Mayo played enough lovely football that never got us anywhere the 50/51 team knew how to get the little breaks plus perform when you need to. If Mayo somehow win I will take it no matter what!

You've lost 7 all Ireland finals in a row cause your team absolutely bottled it on the big stage, nothing to do with refereeing decisions, your failure to get over the line in 2013 when we played the last few mins with 12 and a half men while you lot insisted on keepin a sweeper in place was the bottle jobs of all bottle jobs. And long may it continue :)

We haven't won since '51 because we haven't been good enough. Blaming opponent's unfair play, the referee, players missing through injury/suspension etc, rather than analysing how we played abd fixing what went wrong, is a huge reason why we're 65 years without an All Ireland win.

It was a good game although I can't fathom out how Kilkenny stayed with Tipp for so long. They were poor. As for the game there was enough tripping, blocking players' runs, pulling and dragging to have kept a football ref flat out issuing black cards. Different games, different rules but hurling supporters seem happy.

Refreshing on here Greenandred ,refreshing , good luck for that. It's better than the usual sour gobs you get on here with their backhanded compliments. May the best team win! Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 04/09/2016 19:55:05 1909953 Link 1 |
A magnanimous post no doubt but I definitely think that while mayo were out of their depth in 2004 and 2006, and maybe 2012, they were good enough to win the all Ireland in 1996, 2013 and 2014, and maybe 2015. But the problem is that there are usually a few teams good enough to win the all ireland in a given year, but its all about performing on the day, and Mayo just dont seem to do that. In 2013 the dubs might as well have been begging Mayo to win the game, but they still didnt see it through. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 04/09/2016 20:09:50 1909964 Link 0 |
Joncarter, I would back this Dublin team against pretty much anyone. They are Warriors. Whatever anyone says about Mayo so are they. When we win we win because we have dug it out and if we win in two weeks it will be no different. Strength and honour.
