Possible all stars 2016?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I know the final has to be played yet, but what players have been consistent through out the year and performed well so far to be in with a shout of an all star?

Could see young Comerford for Tipperary getting the goalie All-Star. Mayo's David Clarke should be in with a good shout there too, if he has a good final.

Can see Diarmuid Connolly, Ciaran Kilkenny, Cian O'Sullivan and Ryan McHugh as definite All Stars for 2016.

I'm not sure about the rest yet, like It will be a Dublin/Mayo majority, with probably 1 or 2 Kerry/Tipperary players included. But the above four are stand out players this season, with Peter Harte/Mattie Donnelly, in the running too.

Wouldn't think there's too much room left in forwards - Geaney, Quinlivan,Kilkenny and Connolly look odds on. But then if a few Mayo forwards shoot the lights out!

consistency throughout the year counts for nothing when it comes to All Stars. They are usually determined by semi final and final performances with one, maybe two token quarter finalists thrown in.

Comerford, Quinlevan and Sweeney from Tipp all in with a shout. Geaney from Kerry and maybe Murphy / enright. Harte from Tyrone. Hard to say with Mayo as they have stumbled into the final so it depends how that goes. For Dublin, cooper, McMahon osullivan, Fenton, Kilkenny, Connoly, Mcmenimin and rock are probably all getting one if they win.

i'd be surprised if he's nominated to be honest. Think the 3 nominated will be Clarke, Comeford and Kerry with Comeford in pole position and Clarke needing a brilliant final to win it (with possible a Mayo win)

No point calling it now - the final has a huge bearing on it. .so may as well pick 2 teams:

If Dublin win:

Comeford

McMahon
Cooper
Higgins

Keegan
O'Sullivan
Kilkenny

Fenton
Acheson

Connolly
McMenamen
D O'Connor

Rock
Quinliven
Geaney

Dublin 8
Mayo 3
Tipp 3
Kerry 1

If Mayo win

Clarke

Cooper
Griffin
Higgins

Keegan
Boyle
Kilkenny

Fenton
SOS

D O'Connor
Connolly
A O'Shea

Moran
Quinliven
Geaney

Mayo 8
Dublin 4
Kerry 2
Tipp 1

Liam,

99% of your posts are well-balanced but when it comes to Cluxton you refuse to take the blue-tinted specs off so there's no point in arguing with you.

He has not had a great year and IMHO does not deserve an All-Star. He may well have a great final and if he does, the Kelly or Clarke will miss out as they've been good, but not outstanding. I'd have no issue with that, but he is far from a "shoe-in".

As for any notion that I will scream "Dublin bias", I will say this; I believe Dublin will win the All-Ireland this year and get a minimum of 8 All-Stars and deservedly so.

how anyone can say diarmuid o connor is getting an all star right now, or aidan o shea is baffling!!
DOC has a good game in the early rounds of the connacht, missed the 1/4 final thru injury and was anonymous to a large extent in the semi final
AOS didnt kick a ball most of the year and had a so so semi final
i mean, what are ye watching!!
Lee Keegan and Colm Boyle have been far and away Mayos best players this year but no way both will get all stars if they dont win sam

I don't think its bias don't think it was cluxtons best year by any stretch still the best keeper ever in my opinion put don't think he deserves a all star tbh. peter harte has to get a all star even if they were knocked out early.

Not true actually. A big if but were Mayo to win then Clarke could well get the nod. And there shouldn't be any outrage if that were to happen.

Harte was excellent and the fact they won Ulster gives him a chance, but I think Kilkenny moving to wing back will mean he gets one there along with 2 from Keegan Boyle and O'Sullivan

Cooper, McMahon, O'Sullivan, Fenton, Kilkenny, Kev McManamon (get his name right... its not mcmenamin or menamon), and Dean Rock are nailed on in my view from Dublin. Connolly will depend on his final performance.

Cavanman, u know what, I've probably come down hard on a lot of your posts recently and made it a bit personal. Listen, sorry lad. No offence intended.
And thinking about it, David Clarke actually has had a great year and is in prime position.

None taken.

On Clarke - I'd have Comeford just slightly ahead but if Clarke Doesn't ship 3 or 4 or make blunders in the final he may win it.
