Ok this is a little moan but what the gaa did to Dublin in the '13 final with Hill tickets was an absolute disgrace , for a county that more or less packs it out every game to be shafted like that in '13 was so wrong. I had no problem Mayo getting more stand tickets as long as Dublin got more Hill tickets but that didn't happen. Again today the Hill was open and cheaper yet Mayo supporters rather go to the stand, I hope to god the powers that be show a bit of loyalty to the Dublin hill supporters if we make this years final. Just had to get that off my chest. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 21/08/2016 18:34:25 1903998 Link 3 |
its one thing to traipse home from Jones' road to Clondalkin soaked through quite another to endure it all the way to Ballyhaunis.

totally agree with this point. The Hill isn't good enough all year round but come September everybody wants to be there avonali (Dublin) - Posts: 1974 - 21/08/2016 19:00:26 1904022 Link 0 |
Plenty of Dubs travel great distances to come to Croke Park.

It's not as easy fill it when you don't have a million and a half people and have to travel 12 hour round trips to get there KYTitletown (Kerry) - Posts: 816 - 21/08/2016 19:20:55 1904046 Link 1 |
why stand in the rain when you have the option of a seat ? Stupid thread. Vishred (Mayo) - Posts: 303 - 21/08/2016 19:32:25 1904058 Link 3 |
But the hill wasn't empty today. You must have really bad eyesight. Some Mayo fans were on the hill today and they are entitled to get access to cheaper tickets particularly seeing as it costs them more to go to games than it does for Dublin fans. uibhfhaili1986 (Offaly) - Posts: 1296 - 21/08/2016 19:36:03 1904064 Link 6 |
It doesn't take anyone 6 hours each way from any part of the country, to croke park would you give over ha

KY there was 52 thousand at today's game 5 thousand Tipp supporters and 47 thousand Mayo supporters who rather go to the stand than to the cheaper Hill 16 Terrace . This is not a dig at Mayo by the way it's at the gaa to show some loyalty to Dublin hill supporters who are up there all year on the hill and don't shaft them like in '13 if we make the final. Give out equal number of tickets obviously but make sure Dublin get the majority of Hill tickets. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 21/08/2016 19:54:48 1904085 Link 1 |
You sure about that?? Take someone living in Geesala (in Mayo, about 45 mins from Ballina). If they don't drive and have to rely on walking and public transport how long do you think it would take from the moment they leave their house to the time they take their seat in Croker? Your oversight of such an example just sends home the notion that Dublin really have every advantage going. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5012 - 21/08/2016 20:09:50 1904095 Link 0 |
But supporters from other counties who want to avail of cheap tickets are shafted year in and year out by the GAA as they dont open the hill for every game. Mayo fans are just as entitled to a share of hill tickets as Dublin fans. uibhfhaili1986 (Offaly) - Posts: 1296 - 21/08/2016 20:14:26 1904098 Link 0 |
Being Irish Ive never believed that superior numbers entitled you to more than others with less. But then again I'm not from the pale or across the water bobobo (Clare) - Posts: 20 - 21/08/2016 20:17:11 1904099 Link 0 |
Wrong. Try coming from north derry, Donegal or tyrone on a sunday morning with every tractor in the county on the road plus sunday drivers and every other fans going the same direction. then throw in the 2-3 kids in the back to you have to stop for and of course stopping for a stretch of the legs yourself. Then you hit Dublin, have to find your hotel and park and then make your way to croke park. Id say from leaving my front door to croker is 6 hours easily
