I have been fortunate to have my blag Gaeilge on Dublin's senior hurlers and footballers shortlisted for the best Irish Language Blog at this years Blog Awards Ireland. 20% of the marks are allocated for a public vote which began yesterday. There are only 4 days of voting left. I would very much appreciate it if the GAA community and not only the GAA community in Dublin would consider giving me a vote ifyou think it is worthy of a vote.

Bliain Leis na Dubs
Alan Brogan was a top class player - one of the best to ever wear the blue and navy. Even in his later years as an impact sub he had so much to offer. He was such an important player for Jim Gavin's team. I felt he could have continued in this role for at least another year and I was gutted when he inevitably called it a day. It was this that drove me to put pen to paper initially.
I was only meant to write this one article but the reaction I got inspired me to start my blog 'Bliain Leis na Dubs'. In the blog I follow the fortunes and misfortunes, the trials and tribulations, and the ups and the downs of our senior county teams for the year. From the O'Byrne and Walsh Cups to the races for Sam and Liam. Thankfully there have been more highs than lows to date!!
Irish is my main language. It is the language I speak to my wife, kids and neighbours in my home in Laimbé in the Ráth Chairn Gaeltacht in Meath. It is the language I speak when at work and at play. I attend all Dublin games with friends and fellow Dubs who are also Irish speakers. There are many many Dubs fans who speak Irish. It was for this reason that I decided to write my blog as Gaeilge. It is also the language I am most comfortable with when writing.
As well as analysing games and tactics I try to capture and paint a picture in the blog of the various different things us Dub supporters experience and I talk about the various different characters who attend the games. You will hear of the auld fella who dresses as Molly Malone in the blog, the lady who goes to the games with her dog wearing a Dubs jersey, T-Rex Ó Saurus - the Dinosaur Dubs'supporter, the bodhrán brigade, the Oompa Loompa Dubs and all the other great great characters regularly seen at Dublin games.
