Tipperary footballers deserve more respect.

All-Ireland minor winners '11.
All-Ireland U21 finalists '15.

There's a lot of bitter comments directed towards Tipperary in other threads. It's totally uncalled for. They are in the semi-final on merit. They superbly beat Cork to make the Munster final. They dusted themselves down from defeat to win a qualifier round and then knock out the Connaught champions.

100% agree. Think they will give Mayo plenty and if they tighten at the back they will beat them. Tipp are better than Mayo going forward but I do wonder will they have the cuteness at the back

What bitter comments ? Give me examples.

If its comments where people don't give Tipp a chance and you see them as being distasteful, bitter or disrespectful, then I'm sorry but I don't get what you want ? People to be dishonest in their views just to be nice to the underdog ? Personally I don't give Tipperary any chance at all. I respect they beat Cork on the way (A Cork team in disarray and almost lost an 11 point lead by the way only to dig it out late on) to where they are now, But aside from that, they beat no one of real significance. They have come up against 1 D1 team so far and where beaten comprehensively (no shame in that).

U21 and minor success counts for nothing anyway, A lot of underage teams have won all Irelands and failing to bring their promise from underage to fruition on the senior stage. Tipp have a great team spirit and are under no pressure on Sunday, But they will, in my opinion, be beaten by a better team with better players all over the field.

Who and where are they being disrespected? I will be clapping them in the field.

I really hope they do well. A great story. Again I will be blasted for drawing this comparison but if they were to go and win The A.I. it would be a feat comparable to Leicester's. Probably would do lots to rejuvenate interest in GAA . But I would say that it suits them to be thought of as underdogs. You've got people in here pulling all sorts of stunts trying to make outt heir county is the underdog because they believe that will give their team an advantage. They're in a nice position going into this semi-final. Don't spoil it for them :-)

The majority of the disrespectful comments are coming from posters from counties other than from Mayo bar one or two headbangers! This ain't going to be an easy game for Mayo by any means!

Don't think anyone has disrespected us. I think people are realistic about our chances, as am I.

I think we can win or at least challenge for Sam but we need a couple of seasons of playing at the sharp end of the championship. 2016 won't be our year but hopefully it will mark the start of our presence at the top table and not a one off.

I don't see any disrespect towards us but I see a lot of reality.
We're in a semi final on merit and if Mayo beat us by a point or 50 points everyone in Tipperary will be proud of them. Mayo will respect us and I'm sure they know they will have to play ball to win. I'm sure there very very confident of winning and you can't blame them. We're in semi for first time since the mid 30s.should this be a hurling match and Tipp were playing an up and coming county in an all Ireland semi final I'd expect us to win handy.
If anyone should be given more respect it's Mayo there constantly making the semis and finals but come up short against some great Dublin Kerry and Donegal teams.
They get a lot of stick inside and outside their county perhaps rightly so given they have left numerous all Ireland s behind.
However they keep coming back for more and I hope they win Sam should they prevail on Sunday which I expect them to do without minimum fuss.

Tipperary deserve as much respect as the other 3 counties involved in the semis, who have the other 3 teams beaten, Mayo lost to Galway a div 2 team then beat Fermanagh, Kildare, Westmeath and then Tyrone (they were wrecked tired after a tough Ulster campaign), Kerry beat Clare twice and Tipperary, Dublin waltzed through Leinster by far the weakest province and beat a tired Donegal team so on merit Tipperary are the only team who have played and won as well as lost under big pressure, yes they are seen as a weaker team compared to the other 3 but on any given Sunday that counts for nothing, if people think that their hurlers reaching the final doesn't inspire the footballers to perform and also reach the final they are kidding themselves. Mayo should win but a walkover, not a chance, they will be shown the same respect by the Mayo players and supporters as any other team. If Tipp win then I will wish them all the best in the final and would love to see a Tipperary hurling and football double

Mayo will beat Tipp imo.

That's not being disrespectful to Tipp at all as they've done fantastic to get this far.

However suggesting that this Mayo side will lose to Tipp is maybe a little disrespectful to Mayo imo.

If I'm wrong in wrong and I'll gladly admit that on Sunday evening. But this Mayo side is a great team and they've had one blip (as in losing to an inferior side) in 5 seasons. They won't have another blip.

On balance, the most likely results are:

1) Mayo prove to be to well drilled, determined and fit for Tipp... so they ease away in the last quarter
2) Tipp get overawed by the occasion, lose their focus and discipline... so Mayo end it as a contest before half-time
3) With the rub of the green on their side, Tipp bank a goal or two ... so they're able to weather the inevitable onslaught from Mayo.

I sincerely hope that the second option doesn't happen. Tipp deserve better. I also hope that Tipp fans make an appearance, and aren't shy of making their presence felt. Tomorrow is promised to no one- and it's advisable to make hay when the sun shines. I say this as someone who wishes they'd made that Cork bet.

They're not better than Mayo going forward. Galway's defence was an absolute shambles in the 1/4 final.

No one is disrespecting Tipp but what Wayne said is right , Tipp haven't a hope in hell of beating Mayo and the Mayo supporters who say they do are lying. Mayo to win comfortably , Tipp are the story of the championship it's great to see them in the semi's but we all know this is were it ends.

We've even been known to clap the Galway opposition onto the field. How often that is is proportional to the number of pre-match pints consumed.

There has been bitter comments lumped in Tipperary's direction. People give out about Kilkenny not making an effort in football. The Premier County make a big push in football. Certain quarters seem to resent their progress to the semi-final.
