Matches in Thurles and Croke park.

(Oldest Posts First)

In the Championship a lot of matches are either in Thurles, Tipperary and Nowlan Park, Kilkenny. There are never any matches in Salthill, Galway city.
It seems as though Kilkenny play all their matches in either Nowlan Park or Croke park. Croke park is a home from home for the Cats.
Is this fair on the other teams especially Galway?

At this stage of the championship, it makes sense to play in a stadium with hawk-eye available. Only Thurles and Croker have this.

As for Salthill - you won't see the Leinster council allow a Leinster championship match go to Connaught and games after that are usually in a neutral venue.

The mooted group stage will see 4 provincial winners and 4 qualifiers host a group game each.

Is the group stage format being proposed for the hurling championship as well?
