Danny Battersby

(Oldest Posts First)

For those of you who don't know, Danny Battersby, a young footballer from Meath collapsed during a club game in the Royal county on Saturday (I think).

He had to be resuscitated by his own teammates and players from the opposition and thankfully he is recovering in hospital.

Hopefully he fully recovers from this and lives a long and prosperous life, But again yet another example of a young GAA player ALMOST taken away while just playing the game he loves.. Scary, Luckily this seems to have a happy ending, So many in the past haven't

Get well soon Danny!

Indeed, scary stuff.Apparently he is recovering well.

Apparently the defib saved his life and there isn't always one available at games..

Well said lad, and fair play to all involved. Hopefully he'll make a full recovery.

As far as I know the team he was playing against had a defib too, just happened that the one in the car was closer to hand. It just shows the importance of having one at every ground in the country if possible, and having as many mentors/players trained in how to use them. In fairness they are pretty idiot proof to use, but a bit of training will remove the fear of using them if an emergency ever arises.
Thankfully the young lad seems to be on the mend, here's wishing him a full and speedy recovery, and well done to all involved in taking care of him.
