I would imagine you could double that for Dublin and divide by 4 for the weaker counties. It's a business now the day of the local county hero managing teams is gone. wonit1time (Westmeath) - Posts: 450 - 07/10/2015 08:39:47 1796620 Link 0 |
I think I read this week Tyrone have a backroom team of 14. Elvisahaha (Mayo) - Posts: 36 - 07/10/2015 09:13:57 1796627 Link 0 |
That was actually a brilliant article by Damien Lawlor. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6480 - 07/10/2015 09:23:10 1796629 Link 0 |
Agreed, an excellent read, I am trying to work out how a backroom team of 24 could be made up, I am presuming Buckley is not included in the 24: Elvisahaha (Mayo) - Posts: 36 - 07/10/2015 09:37:50 1796636 Link 0 |
Id agree with you slayer, although it is my understanding that the players were going to say nothing at all, until they were informed that the story had been brought to the press and was being printed. They then put forward the vote count to show how definitive this feeling was. The public show of unity at the meeting was in response to a media outlet 'revealing' how people had voted. All the people who supposedly voted for the management to remain were present at the meeting. TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 07/10/2015 09:49:22 1796640 Link 0 |

It would explain how running the county side costs the Mayo County Board so much from week to week (even if a lot of that goes on mileage and debt servicing for McHale Park). I seem to remember a county board delegate suggesting a round figure of something like €5k being spent per day at one stage. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 07/10/2015 10:34:52 1796660 Link 0 |
I don't know about this 24-strong backroom staff thing. The entire staff were listed in the Connacht telegragh, and they had 20, and that was even including the two managers and the cb chairman... TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 07/10/2015 10:50:47 1796664 Link 0 |
and has the numbers dropped since H&C took over? I heard thats why the players were not happy? And has this spend taken away from other teams (underage). i heard Ballina played the mayo junior team in a friendly, leading to their all ireland final, and ballina had to give them a set of jerseys. Are all the resources going into the senior team? appears so to me. sxckev (Mayo) - Posts: 211 - 07/10/2015 12:42:07 1796732 Link 0 |

Great to see lads happy to volunteer to help out with Mayo from all parts of the country! If only they had the same level of finances as Dublin so they could compete.... Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 26/11/2015 13:37:48 1810033 Link 0 |
