Teams that foul more win more

(Oldest Posts First)

In the modern era it has been shown that approx 80% of the time the winning teams fouls more that the losing team
Dublin fouled far more that Fermanagh and won
Is every Dublin poster blinkered to how their team systematically fouls in the opponents 21-45 area to stop attacks building and allow the defence to regroup. All top teams do it. The foul rate on Sunday tells its on tale for the Dubs, yet it would never be trusted...oh no it must be the ref !!!

the problem my blinkered friend is this
the same tackles that were being awarded fouls against dublin
were happening on dublin but were not being awarded as frees to dublin.
if you cannot see how that makes it an unfair refs performance then you may need to review the game.
one prime example
philly mcmahon under the cusack stand/hill corner
kicked a shot for a point as he did so he was hit late
the ball went wide and nothing was given
the ball went down the other end and jack mccafrey shouldered a fermanagh forward over the end line
and he whistled for a free in.

Dublin do this a lot. They have high foul counts in a lot of games. It was a big part of their 2013 final gameplan. It was then covered up by the Dublin camp with a complaint about the foul count against them - while not pointing to any particular incidents that were bad decisions. They done the same after the Fermanagh game. Basically, the argument is, we had a huge foul count compared to our opponents - it must be unfair. The reality of it is, they have a high foul count as a side-effect of their tactics.

aye surely, poor oul Dublin, the honest daycent poor craytoors. Are you honestly telling me that you dont belive Dublin, like Kerry like Mayo now too and Donegal, dont systematically foul were possible to prevent attacks building from the opposition's defence, worry about the plank in your own eye before you take the splinter from mine

i gave a clear example
also tell me how fenton rose a foot above the fermanagh player on a kick out
palmed the ball down with both hands
and the ref somehow contrived a push in the back and a free for fermanagh
now unless he has an extra hand somewhere its impossible

I dont normally support the dubs on here but it was clear that the ref totally favoured Fermanagh. Any contact by a dub defender on the attacking player was given as a free and when the same happened at the other end then he turned a blind eye. Even though the ref was a kerryman i thought he was totally one sided in his calls, maybe he knew the dubs would win and like a lot of refs they give more then the fair share of fouls to the losing team. Worst performance by a ref all year, seemed totally out of his depth, and dont even get me started on fermanaghs first goal.

The only thing blinkered about Dublins free count is the referee, my god he was poor, not only did he give soft free's but blatant ones he ignored so you could turn the argument on its head and say the better teams are penalised more - because they are better.

The top teams are all tough physical tacklers. If you don't tackle then you won't foul. It's only logical therefore that the top teams will have higher foul counts.

original poster needs to Google the difference between Causation and Correlation.
Let me sum your logic; All penguins are Black and White....All old TVs were Black and White, therefore All Penguins are Old TVs.......
