Cork county board statement

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Please comment on recent cork county board statement, same appears incredulous, apart from penalty decision, which whilst soft, I felt was legitimate, the WEATHER and finally that they now would have been in an all-Ireland semi final only for previous excuses totally discounting possibly Fermanagh who they would have met had they beaten Kerry, pathetic from a supposedly professional body, embarrassing.

Its a very very strange and bizarre statement to have released.

I mean what are they trying to say or prove?

Can't imagine the Kerry or Kilkenny County Board ever saying stuff like this on the resignation of a manger

Mlcollins. The penalty was not legitimate or anything like it.The rest of the County Board statement deserves critical attention but their grievance with the referee is entirely well founded.

Pathetic stuff, reminded me of my own county last year blaming the ref for our defeat to Kerry, embarrassing stuff.

Embarrassing statement. It was never a penalty though.

The Cork Co Board should cop themselves on blaming the ref
for losing the Munster Final. The Manager and selectors are
to blame Cork were a point up with a minute and a half left
they got a 45 the man to take it was Daniel Goulding he was
on the pitch a man who did it several times in the 10 AI final
management decided otherwise and the ball was dropped short
had they scored the game was over what a sore bunch of losers

I read it and cringed. I doubt the supporters or team buy into the excuses tough.

Funny how Mark Collins 11 steps before setting up the 1st goal conveniently being ignored

Why are Cork Co.Board resorting to this.
If I was a player or supporter from Cork I would be rightly embarrassed by that.
I doubt any of the players had an input to this and its all coming from the County Board themselves.

Maybe its the egits like this in the board room pulling down Cork GAA as Donal Og said there are a lot of yes men in that county executive. His not far wrong.
The true Cork GAA Clubs and Supporters are being let down by the county board time and time again.

You only have to look back to the past few years with the hurlers & footballers going on strike to really understand the continuous calamity the Cork County Board are.

They were correct about the ref and were completely within their rights to highlight it. Had some of their defenders made that many obvious mistakes you can be sure they would be highlighted on The Sunday Game, so I have no issue with them doing the same.

The rest was just nonsense though.

County: Mayo

Agree totally they have a right to highlight the penalty, though sometimes it is better to say nothing even though you are right especially if it changes nothing. Spillane getting involved makes the whole thing even more embarrassing it's not for kerry folk to bother themselves with

Didn't bother reading Spillane but I read the Cork statement and it was poor stuff, I wouldn't be happy with our county board if they released this sort of nonsense. Blaming the weather is one I always find particularly stupid, the weather is the exact same for both teams, it's not like one team is playing in balmy conditions and the other is stuck in a tropical hurricane, it's total rubbish.

Cringe worthy stuff from the County Board, they really are showing themselves up yet again! As a genuine supporter I am embarrassed by this. We were beaten fair and square by Kerry in the replay and by Kildare. No excuses needed.

I honestly thought that Cork officials were more clever than this. They normally do their business in the background or at least more discretely. Their hurlers would never have been in the 2013 All Ireland final had the match day officials in a number of matches during that championship not made incorrect decisions. The footballers had 20 minutes left to cancel out that penalty in the Kerry game but weren't good enough. And who exactly did decide to take a two week break between the drawn match and replay? And why did Cork not object at that stage?

Pathetic & embarrassing from a County Board that are truly a shame.
Worst part was assuming Cork would have walked straight through to semi final, complete insult to potential Quarter final opponents, the statement is a disgrace & hopefully GAA HQ will take them to task.
