Kerry V Cork

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Surely there will be a serious kick in Cork at some stage in championship football . They must have the players . I'm led to believe that their record in Killarney is awful ? Do people give the Leesiders any chance or will this be routine for the champions ? One would have to fancy Kerry . Is it true that the losers of this would be on collision to face Dublin ??

Some game ahead but I strongly fancy Kerry

You're right though... Cork def have a big game in them but the hammering that Dublin gave them in the league Final would have def left a mark..

You just don't know what you're going to get with Cork

If they perform to their ability then they could beat anyone

Just not sure that's going to happen against Kerry on their own patch...

Kerry to win

Yes just learned that today.. there's a possibility that the loser of this game could face Dublin in a 1/4 Final

All depends on the draw

Yerrah yeah, sure... Cork have the talent. If they bring a bit of appetite with then we'll have a proper game of it.

Not convinced by this Kerry side. They just don't seem to have gelled. Early doors yet... but... they need to shape up, especially at the back.

Sure listen

Kerry are on their own patch and the last decent team that Cork played they were hammered

Kerry had a far more tougher task against the joke of a game that Cork played in the build up to this final

That Tipp game would have done Kerry a lot of good

Kerry to win because they are simply the better team... and playing at home is worth a few to them

Cork... just not convinced

They have great players but as a team... they are very hot and cold...

Lots of questions marks about this one.. always makes for a good build up

cork for me
kerry havent done anything so far for to be put on a pedestol
and cork have had one bad game in 2015 up to that they topped division 1 table
they beat clare comfortably
while kerry could have been in real trouble at half time if tipp took their chances
surely cork have to come out all gun blazing to win in killarney for the first time since 1995
and shove all the criticism they have been taking in the media by ex kerry players down their troaths

Kerry by 2 - 4 points. They'll start quick, get ahead, Cork will make a bit of a comeback in the second half, usual type of game in Killarney.

As boring as it may be, 35K packed into Killarney for a game between 2 heavyweights is much better than a mismatch in Connacht ....

Point is that the Corkmen are just as bad, don't you agree?

no you thought i was using masters and o se as the two people
and assumed that
when in fact I ment o se and quirke
so no masters is a guy who harbers resntment towards senior team from his time there
and is also a colleague of o se with nemo rangers
anyway its one thing for people in their own county to talk about their team
but for kerry to be slating cork on 2015 form when cork have done more than kerry in 2015
it dont exactly make much sense
plus im sure fitzmauirce wasnt too happy to see cork being giving anymore motivation than they need

Well its the reining Munster and All Ireland champions versus the table toppers from this years NFL.

The first provincial final of the summer and only the third all Division 1 clash of the championship.

Looks set to be a bumper crowd at one of the best stadiums in the country and maybe even the weather will hold up too!

I really can't wait for this, there is something very special about a Cork/Kerry Munster final and when its in Killarney the atmosphere will be terrific. The Corkonians will be down in droves to enjoy the weekend away.

I think both sides have an awful lot to play for. Kerry face a huge task in trying to retain the Sam Maguire and they know that victory will see them progress by the most straight forward route. There is a lot to be said for going for the road you know, especially if you are trying to do the near impossible and claim back to back All Irelands.

Cork have possibly everything on the line, their reputation as footballers really depends on this game. 3 big big defeats against Dublin and Kerry in the last 2 years means everyone is questioning their ability and commitment. Cutbert and his management are under huge pressure and another limp display will surely see his tenure terminated by the summer's end.

Cork believe they should be operating at the level Kerry, Dublin, Donegal and Mayo are at and Sunday is the day to show the country this.

As others have mentioned, Cork have the talent to beat anyone if they put it together on the big day. But they remain an enigma, like the French in rugby, you just don't know which Cork will show up on a given day.

However, I'm expecting a massive performance from Cork on Sunday. They simply have to turn up as there is nowhere for them to hide anymore. Its do or die business.

In the Munster Championship its been pretty close between the two heavyweights for the last 10 years (last year's 12 point winning margin really was an anomaly).

2013: Kerry 1-16 Cork 0-16
2012 Cork 0-17, Kerry 0-12
2011 Kerry 1-15, Cork 1-12
2010 Kerry 1-15 Cork 1-14 (replay, extra time)
2009 Cork 1-17 Kerry 0-12 (replay)
2008 Cork 1-16 Kerry 1-11
2007 Kerry 1-15 Cork 1-13
2006 Cork 1-12 Kerry 0-09 (replay)
2005 Kerry 1-11 Cork 0-11

I'm going for Kerry as they have the better players, bench, and crucially home advantage. But its going to be close...

Mismatch in Connacht? Galway almost beat us this year, Sligo shocked Roscommon and this year no team bar NY was beaten by 10+ points so what are you on about?

The Final will be a mismatch surely? Kerry just about beat Tipp after a shock, tight game between Clare and Limerick, good final on the way.

With this fixture anything can happen on the day...remember walking into PUC last year and everyone was writing Kerry off..will be the exact opposite this year. Trying to extend the unbeaten record in Killarney will be a help to Kerry - key for Cork is getting a 50/50 break round the middle - if they do then they've the forwards to do damage.
Hoping for a fine day and a few pints - whatever way the result goes its not the be all - wouldnt mind seeing Kerry going toe to toe with Dub the Aug bank holiday weekend after an extra qualifier game - best time to meet them I think after their mid summer stroll through Leinster.

Table toppers in division one against relegation threatened Kerry. Im not sure how Kerry are favorites for this one. This Kerry team are still in an element of transition with young players still being bedded in and players coming back from injury and retirement. All this points towards a Cork success. Hopefully if we are within a point or two in the last ten minutes we might be able to sneak a draw or win by a point or two with a bit of luck.

In response to the Mayohurling man complaining about the munster championship, id much rather be playing Galway and Sligo in comparison with Tipp and Cork. Them matches would be shooting practice for the Kerry forwards. Easiest province in the country at the moment even worse then leinster.
Much easier run for Mayo..nonsense to say Munster championship is more boring then Connaught.

I hope the rebels bring their A game I want blood and thunder on Sunday, last years munsterfinal left me feeling very confused, were we a great team were cork an awful team as it turned out it was the latter.
I don't know what's going on with cork but I'm wondering are the players 100% behind cutburth! Coz if they aren't then they'll have no hope. Looking forward to Saturday night in Killarney the ring of Kerry is on that day so the town will be absolutely hopping .
