Monaghan v Fermanagh/Antrim

(Oldest Posts First)

Congrats to monaghan on their win yesterday and hard luck to cavan. I hope it is a shape of things to come in ulster football, as the game was good and played in a good spirit.

Question re the semi final... does either team fancy their chances of making the ulster final against monaghan, and where is the semi final likely to be played?

nah not us. Most of the standout performers in last years victory over Fermanagh didn't figure it was worth their while getting involved this year, some didn't figure it was worth their while hanging round for last years qualifiers either. Fermanagh have their tails up and look as though they could put it up Monaghan but its still hard to look past Monaghan v somebody in the Ulster final. Semi final venue? if your expecting a crowd bigger than 2,000 our county cannot cater for it. I'd say Armagh would be neutral enough though.

I think regardless of who Monaghan play it will be in Clones.

It shouldn't be - I think Breffni would make sense if Fermanagh make it and Armagh or Newry if Antrim make it.

I expect Fermanagh to beat Antrim after their impressive league performance. Quigley is capable of troubling any defence but I think Monaghan will have their homework done and be up for it particularly considering their slow start to yesterday's game.

Saffron i wouldn't rule ye out of it. Ye had a good enough run in the league and should have went up from what i gather. CJ McGourty is a talented player (when his head is in it) McKeever in the middle of the park could cause damage too. Not as bad as you think. Either way the form book would suggest that Monaghan will make it to an ulster final with ease against either Fermanagh or Antrim.

Depending on who wins i'd say the ground will be either Breffni, Athletic grounds. Healy park may be used as well but i doubt it will.

Yeah agree with SaffronDon and I think you can discount us from the equation. Having said that I am well enough used to surprises when it comes to ourselves - so much so that nothing is a shock any more, so, although it will be no surprise to get beaten, it will likewise be no shock if we don't.

On the assumption that the semi will be a Monaghan/Fermanagh affair then you could be looking at Breffni as the location. Omagh and Armagh would also not be too far for either County either.

I can't see Fermanagh getting beat by Antrim again. They are going rightly this season, however league form counts for nothing if you don't make the step up to championship pace. Fermanagh have a chance against Monaghan in the semi-final, if they can get past Antrim. They have something which Cavsn didn't have, and that is a ruthless full-forward in Sean Quigley. I'm expecting big things from him this championship and I would love to see Fermanagh have a crack at Monaghan because I feel he could cause them serious problems.

Fermanagh will beat Antrim handy enough and Monaghan will beat Fermanagh handy enough. Monaghan could not have asked for a better draw in this years championship. Not often any fancied side gets such an easier start to the summer in Ulster.

Fermanagh will beat antrim. Lads more interested in playing low level soccer than playing for their county or others throwing toys out of the pram. Highlights the sad state of affairs in a once proud GAA county

Hurlers evidently worst. Very sad Frankbhoy because I firmly believethe talent and potential is there. We had as many sigerson players as any other county in ulster. Oh to be a Saffron as the saying goes
