He shouldn't. He's done a great job with Mayo, unlucky today. CaisleanCnucha (Dublin) - Posts: 1379 - 30/08/2014 21:25:55 1644925 Link 0 |

You're probably right Wayno, a bit soon to say though. Just pointing out that I think he's done a great job, big shoes to fill if he leaves. CaisleanCnucha (Dublin) - Posts: 1379 - 30/08/2014 21:31:36 1644941 Link 0 |
This kind of talk is unfair. James Horan has done some great things both as a player and a manager. Personally I would like to see him remain on. Former_Poster (Meath) - Posts: 394 - 30/08/2014 21:32:36 1644945 Link 0 |
He will go, he's done as much as he could. Time for new blood in every way :) Cranky360 (Mayo) - Posts: 834 - 30/08/2014 21:44:21 1644961 Link 0 |
James has done a great job with Mayo but he has taken them as far as he can unfortunately for them. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3727 - 31/08/2014 08:18:39 1644990 Link 0 |

It really is bad form to start talking about who is next so soon after the game. It does show a real lack of class. *Applauds sarcastically towards OP* legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7840 - 31/08/2014 08:55:55 1645009 Link 0 |
Just stay away from Tommy Lyons! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8589 - 31/08/2014 09:12:17 1645014 Link 0 |
Hopefully Jim McGuinness will be available for Mayo after today! ;-) JayP (Dublin) - Posts: 1772 - 31/08/2014 09:40:10 1645025 Link 0 |
Best wishes to him. Last year was mayos year to win. It was never going to be easy this year. I said last year the ship had sailed and I don't see how they'd win next year either. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 31/08/2014 09:53:04 1645031 Link 0 |
People of Mayo should let him know if its time , they above anyone else are in a position to judge , for me an outsider I think he's been tremendous but unfortunately we live in a society were winning seems to be all that matters , Dermot Early who how many all Irelands ? John Mulane ? Were they losers ? Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 31/08/2014 11:18:38 1645077 Link 0 |
Thanks to James for the last four years. He said his aim at the start was to make Mayo competitive again and that he did just a shame for him and is we couldn't win an All Ireland. I wish him and his family all the best for the future. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11229 - 31/08/2014 11:27:05 1645083 Link 0 |
No doubt he has brought them on leaps and bounds but he has had an exceptional group of players there. IMO they should have two sams at this stage. If you were being absolutely clinical with your analysis you might say that he should have done better given the talent at his disposal. He has made them a top 3 side though and a strong Connaught county is essential for the game. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4700 - 31/08/2014 11:57:53 1645093 Link 0 |
Maybe Tommy Carr might be available after his top class analysis on the game yesterday, he may take Marin Carney with him as an assistant, but both would be a major loss to RTE. kerryrowz (Kerry) - Posts: 833 - 31/08/2014 12:00:58 1645095 Link 0 |
You couldn't blame him for resigning. I'd say he was embarrassed about how the game ended. For him I'd say it left a bad taste in his mouth. Nick (Wexford) - Posts: 1100 - 31/08/2014 12:11:31 1645101 Link 0 |
James Horan goes out with his reputation intact, he comes across as a real gentleman. tireoghainabu (Tyrone) - Posts: 274 - 31/08/2014 12:21:31 1645110 Link 0 |
