Disrespect or lack of it shown to Kerry and Mayo

(Oldest Posts First)

There is a lot of talk about a disrpect being shown to Kerry Mayo over the replay but its a load of nonsense. People keep saying it wouldn't happen the Dubs etc. But the fixtures and replays were set in stone from the start of the year and an alternative venue would have been used no matter what county was involved. Similarly any Leinster final replay would have been played outside croke park as it was booked.

There is only certain months in the year that croke park can be used and the gaa have to make the most of it as it generates revenue for the assoication which is pumped back into the grassroots.

The alternative venue is more than capable of holding the crowd and is closer to the majority of both counties than Dublin. Both teams/players should be enjoying the build up to a unique semi final replay that will be played in great atmosphere instead of worrying about the grass its played on.

The disrespect being shown to Limerick and the GG is more of an issue here

Youd sware the game was fixed for Newcastle West the way some are going on!

The one issue there will be tho, is parking. Parking for the GG is criminal.

Get in early lads, park in the Jetland, have the breakfast in Supermacs and remember where you left the car!

There is an over flow carpark on the first floor of the Jetland. Massive carpark near Woodies also and for those of you light on your feet, Coonagh Cross Tesco a mile out the ennis side is also a huge car park with no restrictions

in fairness some of the hand wringing and 'its a disgrace' to be playing in Kerrys back yard comments are a bit hard to handle. GG is a fine stadium on 3 sides the exception being the awful Mackey stand. Parking is an issue without a doubt but get there early. huge amount of space in Jetland shopping centre across the road. Park in Limerick city centre, put up a parking disc and walk out. its only a half hour max walk from the centre, some car parks offering a deal of €5 parking for the day if you book online.
Limerick city v small and very easy to negotiate around..easier than Dublin by a long shot.
cheaper also! Enjoy the day...

well said Skillet. Limerick is a lovely city yes it favors Kerry move for conveyance but Im sure the Mayo folk won't complain to have another bite at the All Ireland Cherry , after all it looked as if they were down and out after 35 minutes and staged a fantastic team spirit to almost pull of an unlikely win and dont forget Kerry nearly stole it for the upright to deny them the victory , what I would give for Tyrone to have to travel to Limerick on Saturday for a semi final. It took me an Hour last thursday to get from the Regency Hotel not far from croker to the Gaiety for Riverdance . I'd take Lovely Limerick anytime

Choosing Limerick as the venue

Why did the gaa choose Limerick of all places? You mean they are going to make the Kerry panel and supporters travel, all the way to Limerick? Totally unfair on them. The gaa should of just had it in Killarny and said to hell with it!
