is your local club run properly or is there a load of money been wasted. and how is under-age organised at your club from what i have been hearing from a few people this year, i really fear for some clubs in kerry over the next 10 years and even maybe the kerry seniors, if the rest of the clubs are carrying on the same way some clubs have season too long for the likes of the under 6&8s, they seem deliberately trying to make it longer, so they wont play soccer
Your clubs' set-up + underage 22/08/2014 21:54:47 kerryluck is your local club run properly or is there a load of money been wasted. and how is under-age organised at your club from what i have been hearing from a few people this year, i really fear for some clubs in kerry over the next 10 years and even maybe the kerry seniors, if the rest of the clubs are carrying on the same way. some clubs have season too long for the likes of the under 6&8s, they seem deliberately trying to make it longer, so they wont play soccerHow do you define being run properly? How long is too long in your opinion for under 6&8s? Its always been way in places for things to be done deliberately to alter kids playing other sports. Like I know for a fact the North Tipp u14s trained deliberately at times when they knew Nenagh Ormond RFC u14/15/16s to try stop lads playing rugby 24/08/2014 11:25:23 keeper7 From what I've seen here in the last couple of years it's the underage soccer season that has been extended. true. Same here in North Tipp. Soccer seems to go on a very long time.
This is all counter-productive, I know in my club particularly boys still in primary they have not started to mature even and at that age they sample everything, Soccer, GAA, Basketball, tennis, Rugby once in secondary and this is healthy. What is not healthy is sports getting precious about very young kids. The better kids tend to be multi-talented and forcing them to choose sports at such young ages is ridiculous. As they get older it usually becomes apparent what they have the most hunger. But for clubs of different sports to organise training/game times at or about same time as other games is stupid. Coaches have to be aware of what other sports players are involved in, if they are not, they are very coaches indeed. I know in our club arrangements are made between schools/clubs re training/matches, you have to do this otherwise you will loose promising young players.

Of course its ridiculous to specialise at such a young age. By playing a wide variety of sports when younger when you do eventually specialise you are a much more rounded stronger player. good post
