They've knocked out the All-Ireland champions each of the last 3 years. All seems quiet in Mayo right now. If they knock out the All-Ireland champions this year, they will be champions. Has Mayo's year finally arrived? legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7758 - 28/07/2014 18:21:30 1627512 Link 0 |

I dont think so.There are only so many disappointments a team can take, and they looked less good so far than they have done over the past 3 years. I think they will possibly get to the final, but only just. There is where it will go wrong yet again for them. They would have a better chance against donegal or monaghan in the final. They would have absolutely zero chance against the dubs this year on their form and on dublins form. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3830 - 28/07/2014 20:20:19 1627644 Link 0 |

Can see another Mayo/Dublin final,but Dublin will win again. ziggy320001 (Meath) - Posts: 2432 - 28/07/2014 20:28:56 1627654 Link 0 |
I'll reserve judgement until i see what Cork side turn up at the weekend. The one that blew Dublin away in the first half of the league semi, or the one that capitulated in the 2nd half and in the Munster decider. Cork have the talent to beat any side with the panel they have. Form suggests Mayo but Cork have it in them to make this a difficult afternoon for Mayo. If Cork are within touching distance inside the last 10 minutes we will see where this Mayo side are at this year. It should be a very entertaining game with two quality sides out to prove a point. I'm looking forward to it. seany16 (Dublin) - Posts: 1658 - 28/07/2014 20:37:33 1627664 Link 0 |
The title Mayo to finally win the All-Ireland could be a bit more precise. They have already won 3 All-Irelands Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2420 - 28/07/2014 20:51:17 1627676 Link 0 |

To me next Sunday's game is a big challenge to Mayo and to be honest I can see Cork winning. But if Mayo win I think they will get to the final IMO if that's the case they would be better to meet Dublin than say Donegal/Monaghan After the Roscommon game a lot of Mayo posters here stated that Mayo struggle against blanket defences so if they struggled against Roscommon they will definitely struggle against Donegal's SamOnErrigal (Donegal) - Posts: 1427 - 28/07/2014 20:54:33 1627681 Link 0 |

Damothedub, I started the Qualifier counties thread by saying there's now a thread for each of the provincial winners. Balanced and fair enough. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7758 - 28/07/2014 21:43:46 1627725 Link 0 |
No mayo fans are concentrating on anything other than cork. Id agree with seany's assessment, and in truth Im sure no other provincial winner wanted to play them. They are a dangerous side with enough ability in their ranks to beat literally anyone. However, I don't believe that there is all this pressure on mayo that I keep hearing about. We have actually been written off by many this year, with more interest being placed in all other provincial winners. They aren't playing like a team under pressure either. I think it is a bit of a red herring. TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 29/07/2014 09:49:20 1627766 Link 0 |

i read the headline "Mayo to win all Ireland", and was curious as to what sport or grade?..cant be senior.. we get the same rhetoric every year.. and what happens??? sob (Meath) - Posts: 492 - 29/07/2014 13:57:22 1627921 Link 0 |
Not a chance. This is the same group of players who have been found wanting over the past 3/4 years and they are not strong enough mentally to win it. They are a decent football team but they don't have that inner strength and belief to get over the line and there's nothing to demonstrate that anything has changed. Derry showed in the National League that Mayo are still prone to the same failings when at the business end of tournaments and they easily throw the towel in when serious pressure is put on them. They may beat 1 big side but not 2 or 3. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9688 - 29/07/2014 14:09:11 1627927 Link 0 |
