Monaghan offered v little last week. Was surprised at how poor they were. Donegal are only ulster team who could compete with dubs and the lesser top dogs(mayo and kerry). Other teams are also rans

Ah the good aul Cavan V Monaghan rivalry.

I'll be honest, I only realised about 2 years ago how bitter it is. It really only hit home when I heard a Cavan fella say he would be happy at Cavan losing an Ulster final if they beat Monaghan along the way.

Excellent stuff, can't beat that in football.

While I agree that Donegal can compete, I would seriously give caution about writing this Monaghan team off. If Dublin dismiss them as another Wexford, then they could well find themselves dumped out of the All Ireland.

Monaghan are a very consistent side, and I would say the smothering nature of last Sundays game probably painted them in a poorer light than what they really are.
They are very physical, In that they tackle hard and efficiently. They are in my opinion one of the most underated sides in Ireland, and I have already said I consider them a top 3 or 4 side before the Ulster final.

The major problem for Monaghan now is that they will only have about a week to prepare for the QF if they do beat Kildare.

Had they 3 or 4 weeks, I feel they could rattle any team in Ireland.

Not saying it would work or we will beat them , thats if we progress but If there is anything I look forward to it is how Dublin will react to our defence or even Donegals, it hasn't been done against them in a while so it should be interesting to see how it pans out.

Teams react to us not the other way round. I can tell you how it would pan out monaghan examining their boot laces.

I think myself some of Monaghan's top men did not play too well last Sunday and the way Donegal set up it was always going to be difficult for K Hughes/CMcManus However I would not write off Monaghan and if they get over next weeks game then we will see what Monaghan are made of ( I'm sure the Donegal players know). I would say that from what I saw last night Monaghan would beat Cork/Galway. They are as good as Kerry/Mayo IMO They are no getting the praise they deserve for their defensive displays. To me they are a real hard grafting team and I can't see them lying down to anyone , not even Dublin Hope to be in Croker on 9/8/14 and my dream would be ::::Donegal having won their game we could sit band watch Monaghan giving Dublin hell in the second game. Imagine the stories on the Sunday about the Ulsterbuses parked in Croker.

While it will be interesting to see what monaghan attempt to do against Dublin, one man up front isn't going to work, and in truth they seem to be suffering from 2nd season syndrome a little. They lacked a bit of intensity against Donegal, and when they don't have that, they are average. Dublin will deal with them handy enough I would say

Dublin may well beat Monaghan if that game comes to pass. But they'll be a bit sorer for their efforts the next day than after any game in Leinster I can guarantee you that.

Lockjaw,

I agree 100%. If Dublin do play Monaghan I would expect them to beat them but there will be a lot of sore bodies the morning after as Monaghan are without doubt the most physical team left in the championship.
If Dublin are not up for the battle or are not really disciplined then things could get interesting.

Please stop this Monaghan V Dublin chatter immediately.

Monaghan have a match V Kildare to win.
Monaghan are favourites with the bookies - a label they have not worn with comfort in the past.

Kildare will be a formidable obstacle for Monaghan - Remember we have not won a Championship match in Croke Park since 1930.

To talk about the potential next match is madness ... madness I tell you ... Please stop.
