Not Jim's fault.

Jim only wanted access to the players during the Championship i.e. that club games would be played one day of the weekend so the county team could train on another day. It was the delegates at last year's county board AGM which decided that no games should be played after the Inter County Championship started. Jim is an easy target given his high profile but in this instance he is not to blame. It's a few begrudgers from the bigger clubs that have a problem with Jim.

Indeed - This rebel group could even double in size if a second person from the county also made a statemnet

Fairplay , but its not just Donegal that has an imbalance , not a lot of supporters want to discuss this in April , as only interested in county success , funnily it gets a lot of sympathy in Oct the treatment of club players , and Ive said it a million times listen to the silence from the GPA , treatment of the lads who took time off work nothing short of scandalous .
Theres no one of real note and reputation in the capitol arguing about this either

Forget jim for a second , the article if correct refers to lads who in advance took time off work ? Were do you stand on that ?

Why are these lads wanting Croke Park to do something? Surely all they have to do is get their club delegates who voted to give the county team free reign to come up with a solution internally. Nothing at all to do with Croke Park, more to do with club delegates and Donegal CB.

Absolutely disgraceful. I should have qualified my first comment with that I don't agree to what is happening to clubs. It's entirely unfair on the 98% of players in the county that don't play for the county.

It's just unfair the finger is always wagged a Jim.

Brendan Devenney has an article on the RTE website about elite counties etc. Wonder if it's related to this, thoughts anyone!

Non story, been happening in Tyrone for years. Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story I suppose.

It's a bit of a balls up alright. I think for the sake of the regular club player games need to be played as initially scheduled, even if it's without county players. Otherwise what's the point. I know that in our club the lads have been training since November. Calling games off at the drop of a hat will soon lead to open player revolt.

In the pantheon of non stories this is right at the summit.

As for the lads who arranged time off work I'd say all they had to do is ring up & say I'll be in after all. I treat this nugget with a bit of suspicion as Ardara were due to play at home @ 5.30 in the evening when the vast majority of people would have their day's work done.

I hope we meet Dublin and none of your ---Donegal will be lucky to avoid Dublin. Dublin is one county that Donegal usually play well against and I can't wait to see our swarm defence in action against the Brogans, Connolly and co. Always can think back to 92 when we were complete underdogs and see what happened.
Donegal are not the only county with problems at club level and J Harnan should know that Shades of early September 2012 when Letterkenny were complaining about the homecoming party for Sam and we did not have the All Ireland played at the time. We must all back Jim , He brought so much enjoyment to the Donegal people all through 2012 Thank you Jim. Let's row in behind the County team for one more year and let's get a team ready to compete with the best and beat the best and that includes Dublin

Every county is pretty much the same. This has nothing to do with Donegal really, and more about the introduction of the qualifiers. Club players training all year and then playing the entire club championship off as a blitz freezing in September and October.

County managers have way too much power in the game right across the board. And the guy is right about clubs being powerless as they can't be seen as disloyal to the ambitions of the county setup. The only solution is for a central fixtures list. One that county managers have to live buy and doesn't cause any antagonism.

I mean if you talk to any club delegate who voted out McGeeney more will probably tell you about his management teams attitude to the clubs than anything to do with the performance of the county team. Once things went a bit backwards all the resentment came back in a serious backlash because all the sacrifices the clubs were making was for nothing.

Forget all the BS about a few matches you can't watch on the couch. This is the most serious issue faced by the GAA right now by a long long way.

Absolutely agree with "damothedub"! The sooner county boards, inter county managers and or whoever you need in charge realise that there are more than just 30 odd players in a county, the better. The whole situation is a disgrace. People work and lives are being effected.

We had similar anti manager propaganda when Brian Mc Ivor was manager. Hardly the same agenda.....hardly!!

i can see a time in the not too distant future when the county set up will be run by a seperate body to the club scene. i.e. county will be semi professional . once you make the county team then its goodbye to club football. it will be like the rugby provinces only there will be more teams. you could have dublin, kerry and cork on their own, they rest would be amalgamations.
