Who looks to be the teams to watch this year? I know Tyrone's runner up team from last year have a lot of that team underage again. Any noteworthy teams, managers or players?

Declan bonner is in charge of Donegal and he guided Donegal to victory in the last two Buncrana cup competitions. The Buncrana cup is an under 16 competition between the Ulster counties so I suppose it is a bit of a guide We were beaten six points by Tyrone last year ,a game we could have won had we a free taker. But Donegals record in minor football is poor overall. We have won a few Ulsters over the years and with some very good teams who were capable of winning the All Ireland(1985/1996 were two great teams as was 2006 team) but we seem to fail at the semi final stage, never got to an All Ireland minor final

Jack O' Connor and the Kerry Minors will give it a good rattle this year, unlucky to lose v Tyrone last year.

I was at that Donegal v Tyrone Minor game last May in Ballybofey, and I remember Donegal Minor's shooting 19 or more wides. They dominated for much of that game, and had they a decent free taker or guys more confident in shooting, Donegal would have won that by a good margin.

Very strong in defense and midfield, but their forwards just let them down on the day. Although a sold out Sean MacCumhaill pairc may have made them nervous.

Longford won the Fr Manning Cup U/16 in 2012 and despite the fact that they play the Dubs in round 1 they could go a long way. A lot of the players are playing well at College level [ok Mels got a hiding]

Kerry would be my tip, 2012,2013 U16 sides very strong and have appointed a top manager which could end their long wait for minor AI

Yes they bet us in the final so i know first hand the talent Longford have coming through however Westmeath won the Fr Manning cup in 2011 yet Tommy Carr was unable to bring the best out of them at minor level.

Obviously very early in the year to be making predictions for Minor All Ireland but I waould suggest that Mayo should be mentioned as possible contenders. Enda Gilvary did very well last year guiding them to the all ireland. Mayo have 9 panelists from last year and also had an excellent U16 team in 2013. Roscommon and Galway have been strong at minor over the last 8 years so connacth will not be easy. I would agree that Kerry under Jack O'Connoer would be expected to figure and of course Tyrone lastr years beaten finalist I also believe Dublin had a strong U16 team in 2012. I hope its Mayo again, but minor is very unpredictable.

That's true belmay! A lot of inconsistency because of their inexperience! Mayo for Connaught,Kerry for Munster,Meath for Leinster and Ulster's is very hard to predict! Also I hear Sligo have a talented squad this year? Any truth to it?

Can't rule anyone out to be fair! Dubs are always going to be a contender!

Two of their school teams have reached the Connacht A championship semi finals however Galway for me will win Connacht, Ulster Tyrone,Munster Kerry and Leinster Longford.

Tyrone seem to be the strongest team consistently at minor level, any word on how many of last years panel they have this year?

Jack O'Connor hasn't dropped back down to take the minors for the good of his health (causing a row with Mickey Ned along the way) - I'm sure he's seen talent coming through amd would expect Kerry to win munster and give the AI a good rattle.

Well not really, since you just did. So they are pretty much the same as every team on this thread, i.e. being built up by their own fans.

Leinster will fall between the Dubs, Kildare and Longford id say given their success in recent years..... Offaly too will be there or thereabouts having won the fr manning cup in 2013 and will be fairly confident of upsetting the odds. In Munster Kerry and Cork wont have it all their own way. Tipperary and Clare are quite strong and will challenge either county. Hard to see past Mayo and Roscommon in the west while Tyrone and Donegal would seem to be the strongest in Ulster....
