Fair Play to Aindreas Doyle

Spot on comment by the Wexford man. Not too many would be willing to call a spade a spade in the week of a match but he's dead right and is to be commended for having the gumption to say it. Ridiculous situation.

This will turn into the Dub and Kildare posters having a crack at each other.
I'm sure Snuf will post a gem on this soon

The field is the same for both teams. The supporters can't stick the ball in the back of the net for any team.I have often seen teams playing the Dubs before a big crowd in Croker being inspired by the occasion and playing well above themselves. Aindreas is just getting his excuses in early if you ask me.

Fine folks, but you seen to think this is all instigated by Dublin. Its cash cow time for the GAA. If yis are unhappy about it, do something like get your club to raise it at County level and so on so forth, stop b*t*hing about it. I'd love to be playing Wexford in the NELL the proper home of Dublin GAA or indeed anywhere Wexford want to play. Dubs will travel in numbers regardless.

Yis also say its an advantage to us, how many big games have we also lost over the last 10 years aswell? What does Andrias want? What does he think is fair?

FFS do yis ever tire of the begrudgery? Seriously? Meath and Kildare have played just as much games there.

To be fair though, what other ground in Leinster would accommodate the support that the Dubs bring???

This argument is just ridiculous, this is about the bottom line for Leinster Council, why doesn't Andrias direct that argument at them? Or is it a case if Wexford loose its because the Dubs have unfair advantage of playing in Croker? To be honest I would love to see Dublin not playing there in Leinster Champion for at least three years to see what way bottom line and funding ends up... its just absolute bull**** of an argument.

Look Dubs,
Give all the reasons you like, finances, Leinster Council directive etc. the real bottom line is that it is an advantage to the home team and that's all the players and supporters care about. End of story. It's the most glaring example of the inequalities that exist in the association. It's actually a sad indictment of your performance over the last 15 years that you've won so little at national level. By a long way the best resourced county in the country in terms of player numbers, colleges on your doorstep, finances, media coverage, largest support and every single match at a home venue. If you explained this set up to someone from outside the country not encumbered with the "tradition" that accompanies the GAA they'd look at you like you had two heads. Man Utd should play every single game at home so.....

It is an advantage to Dublin and Dublin ought to have to play outside of Croke Park before the final. Wexford Park holds 20,000 I think so would be good enough venue with share of the tickets. Dublin regularly played most of their Leinster games up until after 2000 outside of Croke park and guess what? Not beaten afaik in any ground outside Croke Park since I think Laois in Portlaoise in 1980 (not 100% on that one) and before that in Navan against Louth in 1973.

I think that's the bottom line here. And in fairness to Doyle he even makes that point when talking about it. It's not completely fair but given Dublin's population there is no other option really.

I agree Condorman, the pitch is more or less the same size no matter where the match is played and the goal posts are in the same position so if a team is good enough it should not matter whether they are playing at home or away. It amazes me when I see professional football teams in England where players are paid fortunes and they're happy if they get a "result" (in other words a draw) away. In my mind that's just negative thinking.

I'd love for them to play outside of Croker, it's almost like Groundhog Day at this stage, same old, same old. The away days are the best days ~PHS

Well what alternative explanation do you offer?

It is unfair, but it is necessary. However, I believe we can improve the current situation. I think that action should be taken to give the visiting county more opportunity to buy tickets before the home county. Then any that dont get bought, they put them up for sale for the dubs. Also, I think the gaa should make an effort to ensure that the hill is evenly split.

In Dublins last game (which was a double header) there was less then 30,000 at it. It could easily have been played at a regional venue.

Its time to split Dublin into four teams anyway. The four teams would be Dublin City, South Dublin County, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County and Fingal County.

Is it really an advantage to the Dubs? 2 All Irelands since 1983. Since then Kerry, Meath, Cork and Tyrone all have won more in that time and Galway have won it twice themselves.

I have to give bluedubstar credit here.

(1) Pointing out that Dublin are willing to travel but Croke Park's hierarchy want them in Croker for the cash
(2) Pointing out that the best way of raising this is to go through your club & getting a motion going at County board level.

It gives Dublin a slight advantage I feel, but the biggest advantage is to the GAA & the extra revenue brought about by the Dubs playing in Croker.
