Heartbreak for Mayo once again

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

So, so tough for Mayo. An enthralling game with everything in it. Goal and a point for Dublin should have been called back for 'steps' but it's the final scoreboard that counts. Vaughan's rush of blood leading to a red card did not help

That's what happens when you put amiteures against professionals.

Hard luck Mayo and well done to the GAA.

Mayo played all the football and should have won by 3 or 4. McQuillan gave Dublin awful soft frees throughout, tbe Dublin goal was dodgy and Mayo should have had a penalty. But hey, Croke Park and the media will be delighted as their team won.

Leave the bitterness for a bit later.
Mayo should have won but didn't. Missed a one on one and that crazy tackle from Vaughan!!! What was he at??

Mayo needed a good start, not to concede a goal. They did'nt get it. Once the first goal went in you just knew Dubs would do it. Mayo are not good coming from behind. Also Aidan O Shea, Donal Vaughan and their manager Rochford had bad games. Rochfordl lost his cool with all the subbings he did. This reminds me of Galway hurlers in 2012- under Antony Cunningham. They should have Kilkenny beaten but the sideline lost the "head".

Go wrap your bitterness around a bottle.

Not a fan of Mayo but what can you even say to them? In my lifetime Mayo have appeared in 11 all ireland finals (including replays) and not won one of them. Probability would suggest they would win one of them. I don't know how they lost that game today.

Anyway not that it's much use but Mayo fans you do have my sympathy.

I don't think I've ever felt this upset in my life. Mayo were the deserving winners. Dublin were only lucky!

I think the Kerry/Mayo replay much more resembled amateurs against professionals..

I'm surprised at your begrudging attitude.

It was a marvelous day for Kerry, 4 in a row minors and such talent coming through.

Mayo like so many times in the recent past have choked again. Indiscipline in the form of Vaughan and again choking at two points up with 10 to go. We as Mayo supporters need to step off and stop putting these lads on pedestals until they deliver something real...Connaught titles don't cut it. chokers!

Mayo lost the game in the first half - they had Dublin rattled - were on top for most of the 35 mins and went in one point up

They didn't create one goal chance in first half and missed 3 easy points ( either of those would have won it)

Dublin were always going to come into the game especially with the bench strength

Nonsense post..... Aidan O'Shea had a more than decent game.

You'll find it's a couple of years since they had a Connaught Title!

Heartfelt commiserations to Mayo. A fantastic effort yet again. Dublin are a great team but they were not the better team on this occasion.

Wow! Kerry gain a fine victory and that's how you celebrate it, with a juvenile outpouring of bitterness? Astounding! Keep sucking your lemons boy.

Here, here. Well said. If it was ourselves in Leitrim or Laois winning a minor all-ireland, let alone in a row we'd smile all winter.

Congratulations Dublin on the 3 in a row.
I don't think they were the better team today, if ever a team deserved a replay, thought Mayo did. Missed opportunities cost them in a tight match.
Regarding the refereeing decisions, I thought O Callaghan took 6 steps hopped it then took 7 before he shot for goal. Free out if I'm allowed my opinion on it. The penalty was hard to call and was only questioned on TV after a replay, can see why it wasn't given. Vaughan getting himself sent off (and that's what it was) was crucial given the timing if it.
As hard as it was to swallow it was a chance missed for Mayo
Regarding the Dubs they are the best team I have ever seen. Part of that legacy is based on the fact that no other team I have seen would have beaten this Mayo team two years in a row the way they played . That's how good Mayo are IMO and hopefully they can win one
