Cleverest / wittiest GAA flags

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

All this talk of flags has got me thinking about some really clever GAA flags that I have seen at matches over the years:

- Waterford fans carrying a Waterford flag that had a picture of Mother Teresa on it in her blue and white Nun's robe.

- Kilkenny flag with Cody's head superimposed on Conor McGregor's body with the following caption underneath "we are not here to take part, we are here to take over".

- Kilkenny fans in 2002 with something about DJ coming to get us and he duly delivered.

Surely there are lots more funny/ clever flags seen over the year?

None of them are funny if im being honest. The conor McGregor one in particular is a serious pain in the hole at this stage and is in no way witty

A Cork banner from the great games between Cork and Galway in the 80's read "the West's awake but the South has Risen"

The most Ironic one goes to the Meath banner at the Leinster Final in 2010 which read "Meath men do it better"

That was and remains the greatest flag of them all . It was a hot topic back in the 80's.

Luke Dempsey was managing Westmeath versus Meath under Sean Boylan in those epic matches back in 2001. The Meath Banner read; Luke is warm but Sean is Boylan.

I remember the name of the TV show but didn't know it meant letting the baldy lad out of the polo neck.

Offaly had a naughty one in 1998 against Kilkenny. 'We're here to tickle your pussy'.

Any flag without Ché Guvera :) A bit over done.

I was at a quiz once where people answered out orally. Team member was asked what was Ché Guvera's real first name? After much thinking your man goes 'Seamús Guvera?'. Totally in earnest, pardon the pun.

Personal favourite 2003 Laois flag 'Unlaoised by Micko'.

Kilkenny 1979 All-Ireland hurling final flag versus Cork. 'You can keep all your Murphys, a little Hennessy does the trick'. Reference to Kilkenny player Joe Hennessy.

Anyone remember Terence from Cork in the late 80s?

He had a slogan before Cork vs Mayo in 1989 'Mayo we're all God's children, but Cork are the chosen ones'.

He was some character, he used to be on the Gerry Ryan radio show too and then just vansished from the public eye.
