2013 lost to Cork 0-19 to 0-14, King Henry sent off. Back then, like now, their scoring power seemed to dry up and then they won the next two All-Ireland's......... slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6480 - 11/07/2017 11:26:54 2014803 Link 0 |
2013 Cork beat them in a quarter final in Thurles after Dublin had knocked them out of the Leinster Championship in a semi final replay in Portlaoise. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13704 - 11/07/2017 11:30:31 2014804 Link 0 |
2013, sure Cork dumped them out in the quarters. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 11/07/2017 11:34:31 2014805 Link 0 |

The last time your own county made it to the All Ireland final I believe - ye beat them in the quarters in 2013 if I remember correctly.

1996? They've failed to reach it loads of times, much like every other county. There wasn't always a back door. Kurt_Angle (Dublin) - Posts: 567 - 11/07/2017 11:55:34 2014829 Link 0 |
No need for the petty dig. The OP had a genuine question with no under handed dig about KK made - unlike you.

I'm sure the OP didn't remember his/her own county winning the quarter final 4 years ago. You don't like me, that's terrible, i won't sleep tonight. KK1926 (Kilkenny) - Posts: 175 - 11/07/2017 12:46:35 2014870 Link 1 |
'Sure Cork dumped them out in the quarters' Pinkie. The phraseology says it all. Wexford never get dumped, just hammerings! Laois76 (Laois) - Posts: 1270 - 11/07/2017 13:26:14 2014917 Link 5 |
And that's why the qualifiers ultimately favoured the big teams over the rest. Imagine what the 2004 championship would have been like under the old system. The all Ireland semi finals would have been as follows: Waterford Vs Antrim/Down Wexford VS Galway. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 11/07/2017 13:35:04 2014927 Link 0 |
Eh, what now? I am lost, sorry.

You'd have to go back to 1994 when they didn't make a quarterfinal / provincial final. Since the back door came in in 1997, 2013 and this year are the only years in the last 21 they didn't make a semi. Incroyable. galwaydublin (Galway) - Posts: 226 - 11/07/2017 16:01:07 2015029 Link 0 |
