Because he's Cody......

Don't want to see the Great man suspended, but as Connolly got that ban the GAA are now in a dilemma. Fair is fair.

I'll say it again - Connolly's ban was a joke. Ya it is in the rules but he didn't injure anyone and it was just crazy to see one of the best players banned for the summer.

Doesn't really matter. Kilkenny are out! So he's hardly bothered is he?

He won't get a ban imo.

The reason being it doesn't fit the narrative.

That is not the point. If there is no action against Brian Cody, it means there is inconsistency in applying
the rule. Diarmuid Connolly gets twelve weeks for a push on an official and Brian Cody gets no sanction
for a push on an official. The twelve weeks Diarmuid Connolly got was too severe.

He probably will get banned but is he really bothered? He won't be appealing it .

He wont get a ban because Hurling deal with things differently. They let the game flow with big hits going in and no flashing on black, red, yellow, blue and every other bloody colour of cards. Hurling refuses to let the black card into their game (and rightly so). Just because the football fraternity in central council want to ruin the game by adding new rules and extra cards doesn't mean hurling will follow suit. It was a nothing really let's face it. In fact, the linesman approached Cody and both invited contact. But it was nothing.

Yeah, I was just thinking that we needed a second thread on this subject.

Maybe it's time for Brian Cody to pack it in before he starts picking up bans. It's becoming almost normal now that he wants to get physically involved with the opposition manager. It would be a pity if he spoiled a fantastic management record.

Picking up a 12 week ban for Saturday evening's bit of a heated exchange tarnish his record?? Are you for real? 11 All Irelands in 19 years and people will say 'ah no a 4th official once had to come between him and Derek McGrath in a qualifier in 2017... Shur didn't Cody put his hands on him..those all-irelands are worthless now.'

A statement ridiculous beyond comprehension.

Liam and Condor Legion et al. Yes he should receive the 12 week ban. He broke the rule just like Connolly. But in Kilkenny we won't moan about it like some in Dublin.

We'll be focusing on getting back into the hurling elite, working on our underage and checking out the club scene. We won't be bawling and feeling victimised and put upon like the whingefest from the capital.

Many congrats to Waterford. Hugely deserved and all true hurling fans will wissh them well. Great to see Cork back too.

The Connolly comparison is irrelevant, he put his hand on the linesman and in fairness to the guy took his punishment.
Take a look at what Louth's Ryan burns got 12 weeks for.
The ball went wide, he followed it out of play and kicked it back towards the opposition goal for a kick out.
A perfect example of proper sportsmanship. The ball hit the umpire from about 20 yds, Burns was given a straight red and given a 12 week ban for his trouble.
If Cody laid a finger on any official he must get the same treatment.

not a 12 week ban in anyway, Cody was trying to dodge the linesman who was in his face. Not similar to Connolly situation.

That's the argument I'd be putting forward if I was Burns, but come on man. .it looks fairly obvious that he meant it!
