If this was Connolly, Galvin, McMenamin etc, There would be 10+ pages of "debate" on this picture and the Sunday game would be all over it.

Cest la vie I guess.

Saw this yesterday. Surprised Mayo and the management are not highlighting it seeing as they are always feeling sorry for themselves etc. etc.

I agree Wayno. No mention on the Sunday game either with Ciaran Whelan only discussing that Paddy Durkan should get a month ban for his lash out punch.

It would be on the national news

There would be giant blown up colour sports back pages

There would be an entire segment on the Sunday game highlighting it

It would be all over all forms of social media

There would be so much more noise about it

Once again highlighting a thread I started last season called Selective Condemnation

And the inconsistent media coverage of discipline matters runs on!!

Correct. I see on Twitter Whelan being condemned for not bringing it up even though O'Sé was there too. Pretty sure the two lads aren't directing the show.

Just wait.... the photo is proof of clear intent to gouge. I can see a heavy retrospective ban coming down the road and rightly so

Ahem....
The Sunday Game glossed over it that night by saying it wasn't the time or the place.

looks like a definite gouge. Selective condemnation is right.

That's not true, they did comment on it
They said that they didn't want to talk too much about it as they didn't feel it was the time or the place but they did show it from numerous angles including slow motion and magnified close up. A picture speaks a thousand words.
Granted they didn't do the judge/juror/execution piece on it but they did devote at least 2 minutes to showing the images of the eye gouge.
Lets not forget that McMahon did get a suspension from this and lost out on a player of the year award due to his own bad discipline
