I kniw these are down for a double header in Cork. It makes sense in terms of giving a big game to a revamped stadium. However I hear there is only 45k capacity. Just looking at the teams that will be involved and surely 11k per county is not going to be enough?

Wexford sold over that number for the kk game this year and if you look at the 60,000 in Croke park yesterday well over half were from wexford. Especially if Cork lose munster it'll be a disaster trying to get tickets. It was the same in 2014 when we played limerick. Surely two separate days (Saturday and Sunday) or a double in Croke park would bexpect best?

It won't be in Croke park anyway.
Thurles more than likely.

Don't think it will be Thurles with the Hurling final there on Sunday.
Croke park would be the obvious double header but the Gaa will want 2 gates so can't see that happening either.

In 2015 Thurles hosted qualifiers on the Saturday evening and the Munster final on the Sunday. I'm sure this will be the case again this weekend coming.

Hayes Hotel will knock out a fair few chicken curry's this weekend

If Cork lose the Munster Final, the Q/F are on separate days in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. If that happens Cork will have to be the first game and it will sell out, Wexford will have a decent crowd to contribute to an overall 35k+ attendance in the second match. These games will be on different days. The only worry if Clare are in the Q/F and the GAA may try and push both games on the same day and I believe that would be the wrong call. The GAA will think about revenue and that will make their decision for them.

If Wexford play Tipp, surely HQ is the only place to have it?

If Tipp get over Dublin and manage to meet Wexford or perhaps Clare given the Munster final result those games would draw 30k.

I guess the only way Tipp can play Wexford is if KK beat Waterford. Should the opposite happen then it gets spicy indeed.

However not looking past Saturday I think we will struggle to beat Dublin and on a tight pitch like Portlaoise or Tullamore the way we have hurled so far nothing would suprise me with this Tipp team.

Wexford brought 45k to Croke Park yesterday. Surely they would do the same for a quarter final.
HQ if playing Tipp surely, Thurles if playing Waterford?

PUC will get at least on QF cos the Cork county board would be extremely pissed off otherwise after GAA saying the QF would be in the new stadium.

I'm sure Dublin agreed probably with some game time in Croker next year for the footballers.
Seems the hurlers are getting done out of a neutral venue cos the footballers play 95% of games in Croker.
I don't think Tipp should have home advantage this will be our 3rd game in Thurles this year and we've been shocking in both to say the least.
Maybe the Dubs will put us out of our misery!!

Misery? Try following the Wexford hurlers for the past 14 years if you want to see misery!

I know Pinky Tipp win an All-Ireland and dissapear for a few years!!
Amazing how Kilkenny done it year after year.
You'd bite your hand off for a 1996 all over again.
We were just talking about it in work today and remember in the second half no Wexford back gave away a free in the second half.
Phenomenal ye could have done with that type of defence yesterday.
I know ye are only starting to lay the foundations but a bit more composure yesterday and ye were in with a great shout.

Why should Cork be ****** off. We have just as big a stadium in Limerick and the Gaelic Grounds never got an All Ireland quarter final in hurling and we are surely more central to more hurling counties than Cork. I think it is especially scandalous that after beating KK and reaching a Leinster Final, that Wexford have to travel all the way to Cork to play in a quarter final.

hear hear - sundays munster final should be in limerick - but cork prefer thurles - what cork want cork get
remember 2014 munster final the park restricted to 32k when both thurles and limerick had bigger grounds - but what cork want cork get

now cork have the big fancy stadium so they are getting the quarter finals - fair enough - but where was this fair play when the gaelic grounds was redone. Its a fine stadium and has shown to be capable of hosting big games in the past

should wait until quarters are known before naming venues , Would nowlan park be able to hold wexfords quarter final, bear in mind they probably wont get same level of support as for leinster final

If they insist on going ahead with cork for the the quarter finals then I do think one of them will need to be moved to the Saturday.

Wexford probably won't bring as big a crowd as yesterday but would attract anything between 20 to 30 thousand to cork. Throw in 3 other counties and in reality you could see there being issues.

Any of the teams left are going to bring a sizeable crowd, throw in the novelty factor of the first big games being played in a revamped stadium and surely 2 games over the Saturday and Sunday is the way to go here.

I didn't say it was fair Limerick people. You could argue there was no need for another stadium.

The new hurling structure is to give games at home to everyone. It's not in the benefit of the game though imo.
