Cork v Tipp Minor Hurling Championship

(Oldest Posts First)

Just back from Cork & Tipp in the minor hurling. What a game. Entertaining to the last puck. A draw a very fair result.
What a credit both these bunch of players are to their Clubs , Parents & Counties. Fairly lousy to expect them to turn around and play again on Saturday & also a shame that one of their summers will end on Saturday.
And they said Cork hurling was finished.........

Tis on Monday! The minor championships are primed for a round robin, there is no need for knock out at that level, they have the whole summer to hurl and should be let do so.

Some competition in Munster this year. Tipp edged out Limerick at homewith the last puck of the game in a thriller and Clare, again at home, beat them by two points after extra time and Cork and Tipp could not be divided even after extra time.

Actually Cork were strongly tipped to win Munster easily at minor and under 21 level and almost certainly will win both of them. What the results so far show is that the standard of minor hurling in Munster is actually very even across the board, with only Waterford appearing to be struggling, this year.

6 day turn around for the winner too but I echo the comment its been a good minor championship in Munster a lot of close games down to the wire even in the Tpp , Limk game QF was won by a last minute goal.

Wonderful game last night, thought Cork were gone 3 times but each time they clawed it back.
Glad that both teams will get a second chance & glad they get a small rest til Monday.
Standard very even in Munster, extremely hard to call a winner.
Don't think Cork would be expected to win at under 21 this year, the minors for last couple of years won nothing.
To be honest I'm more interested in seeing 4 or 5 minors with huge potential in any year's team, winning silverware is a bonus but having good lads coming up is what it's all about.
There are a couple of very exciting hurlers in this year's team, Please God the tide is turning & Cork will be back competing with the best.

I love the minor championship. I know the the under 21 is very good too but if I was looking for an indicator of senior success I would look at recent minor results before under 21.

In general minor and under 21 games in Munster have been very competitive over the past 5 or 10 years. It's great to see too.

Cork would be delighted just to win the replay and get back into Munster Final and build from there. Big task again in the replay though. Tipp will be very hard beaten.
As for U-21 I couldn't see us beating that Limerick Team at the moment. Maybe next year but not this year. Tipp will be strong U-21 again next year after having a couple of good minor Teams. To be competing strongly again is very welcome after the last decade. Need a bit of luck with it to get a bit of big day exposure.

Huge, huge win for Cork Minors tonight. It's hard to believe in a 5 team Championship but this is the first time since 2008 that Cork Minors have reached a Munster Final.
There was a cracking crowd in excess of 8,000 at the game.
There is no doubt that at last the flame has been lit in Cork Hurling, it's still very early days and nothing has been won yet at Senior or Minor level but the atmosphere & the craic is back.
I expect a massive Cork crowd in Thurles next Sunday.,

Fair play to Cork they put Tipp away early in the second half.
Think the last time Cork had minor and Senior in a Munster final was 2006.
Could be wrong.
This is a strong Cork team and shows the underage work is paying off.
They may go a long way this year and could win the AI.
