Laois v Clare

(Oldest Posts First)

Saturday's All-Ireland SFC qualifier in Portlaoise looks a tough one to call. Clare defeated Laois in the backdoor last year but can the Banner men repeat the trick this weekend?

We'll use this thread to discuss the game at O'Moore Park.

Two teams going in different directions. Clare beating Laois last year was a minor surprise, but not this year.
Expect Clare to win by 3 - 4 pts

Calre will fancy this draw and as one of their players was quoted as saying ..."Its the draw we wanted but only at home" showing what they think of the recent decline of Laois.

Laois can produce some great football at times especially in O'Moore Park and I think the cocky clare men might get a shock here.

Probably the hardest game of the weekend to call I'm going Laois with three to spare !

Think Clare are underrated and have some really good forwards who play with plenty of pace and movement. Having seen Laois at first hand recently I can only see a comfortable Clare win

Clare really need to win this one to solidify the progress they have made over the past 2 years. They are no longer a surprise package and must now deal with favorites tag.

This is a good Laois team who seem to have lost their way this year. From really putting it up to Dublin two years ago to Div.4 this year.
If they produce the football they are capable of they will win this but you just don't know with Laois lately..

I give Laois a chance here. They are playing at home, and have a couple of useful footballers.
Laois for me.

Will Clare actually get some respect and credit for this?

You'd expect a good division 2 team to be beating a Division 4 team in the championship. Creegan has lots of work to do to turn this around.

Completely underrated team in my view. Don't know how they were evens to win today. Easy money

I think a huge wake up call is needed. This was always an easy Clare win and then see how they progress against an established team.

Clare and Laois are in different stratospheres at the moment. Claire a comfortable division 2 team looking to improve and somehow get to top division and regular qtr final level and Laois division 4 and 2/3 champ games a year.

It will take a good 5 years at least to change this for Laois. Trust me as a man that has watched Cork fall to a similar position.

Clare are on an upward curve compared to Laois and any other thought was just romantic sentiment of 10/15 yrs ago.
