Can I ask where are the these bans going from WW9 (Wicklow) - Posts: 109 - 30/05/2017 13:06:25 1992164 Link 0 |
How long will Mattie Donnelly get?. Its his 3rd striking offence this year. HEREBENJI (Donegal) - Posts: 421 - 31/05/2017 19:29:07 1992793 Link 0 |
If it is indeed a strike then it will be a tough one on Tyrone. However I have watched it a few times and all I see is Mattie throwing shoulder at McKaigue and him going down as if he was punched. There isn't a mark on him and he's fit to argue with Donnelly afterwards - think it's a fallout from last year and handbags to be honest. Donnelly is a keen boxer I hear and if he had have hit mckaigue he wouldn't be getting up to argue.

The referee and linesman spoke about the incident involving Donnelly and mc Keague. Apparently from those attending Mc Keague had been hanging out of Donnelly all day pulling his jersey, holding him back etc and Donnelly hadn't even got a free off him. Seeing he was getting away with it Mc Keague upped the the antics and Donnelly decided to stand up to him. Linesman had seen it all and that's why there was nothing done by the referee. That and the farce that happened a few weeks ago involving the Antrim player will make the powers that be think twice before they start suspending players. if the black card was doing its job then none of this would be happening. border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 894 - 31/05/2017 20:42:51 1992822 Link 0 |
Whilst I don't disagree with you regarding the Mark McGovern incident I'd still love to know under what circumstance was the player given 96 weeks!!? What was the charge? What was the rule regarding that charge. There was no referee report, no video evidence, no witnesses, and no admission by the player. Was it a striking offense, violent conduct or something else? It seems like the GAA pulled 96 weeks out of thin air just because they had to be seen to do something. Or does the ban reflect the extent of injury? For example is one strike more sever than the other if a player gets a broken nose rather than a black eye? JamsieMac (Cavan) - Posts: 481 - 02/06/2017 18:54:10 1993663 Link 0 |
