London vs Leitrim

(Oldest Posts First)

Leitrim head across the Channel this weekend for their Connacht senior football championship quarter-final against London. Could the visitors be in for a surprise against the Exiles?

This thread will be used to discuss Sunday's game at Ruislip.

Won't be that much of surprise if London win after all they beat Leitrim in their last championship meeting on Irish soil. Leitrim injuries problem makes this game even harder to call now.

I hope Leitrim don't head across the English Channel or they will end up in France.

At least the smaller crowd in comparison to the Mayo match last year means there will be no repeat of the Father Ted style "is it all ticket, isn't it, shall we shan't we" indecision shown by London board last year.

Indeed, it would have been best if the London County Board had stuck to their guns from the beginning, rather than confusing people.

Last year was my first trip to Ruislip and it was very enjoyable, and it was quite the novelty to walk to a championship ground through a couple of fields!

Haven't the Irish TV Grounds been redeveloped since then? Photos make it look completely different.

Is it true that Emilyn Mulligan has had another cruciate injury.

Well until now Gleebo the ground was essentially a field with a clubhouse so any development would have been an improvement! The new stand looks really good and has a decent capacity. My only small criticism of it would be that if you're going to spend that much on it in the first place, why not make sure the roof covers the whole stand? Getting wet standing up is one thing, sitting down for a soaking is far worse!

I agree about the location, you just don't think of there being open fields in a place like Ruislip, definitely not what most people's idea of what a London venue would be. It's a shame there's not a lot going on in the immediate vicinity. It scores pretty low on the pub count unless you go a bit further afield.

First Championship trip to ruislip. Was there for a league game a long time ago.

God I hope we win. How are London fixed?

Probably a relatively narrow 3-4 point win for your lads at a guess.

Does anyone know if the match is on telly anywhere? Any channels have the coverage. Cheers

you can also get soaked sitting in the stand at Croke Park. really bad designs that can allow this to happen. I suppose the one consolation about Ruislip is that it doesn't rain as much in London as it does in Ireland.

No Admin is correct - they are travelling with O'Leary's latest venture 'Ryansea'.

Yeah but it's hardly tropical Goldrick, as anyone who was at the previous meeting between London & Leitrim in 2012 will testify!
