Wexford vs Killkenny (Hurling)

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Wexford had a great league campaign getting promoted to 1A and beating Galway in the group stages and beating Killkenny in the quarter final but unfortunately losing to Tipp in the semis. Killkenny were poor enough in the league and aren't in top form at all, but key players are coming out of injury. As good as Wexford are going, I think that Cody and Killkenny will want revenge and Killkenny will want to retain Leinster.
Killkenny 3+

Ah don't Wexford still have to play us?!! We didn't use more than the allowed subs again and have to forfeit did we!

Wexford v Kilkenny? Kilkenny's next game is in the semi-final of the Leinster Championship. Their opponents are still unknown.

Sorry to say Oakleafer but total disrespect to Laois. There is still a game to play anything can happen.

Apologies, you can myself and my brother as there may have been a slight misunderstanding, I asked him if Wexford and Laois was playing today and he said yes Wexford won. I wasn't sure and forgot to double check before I put anything up. I am more of a football man who lost interest in hurling not to long ago, always followed it and liked it but beginning to love it again. Two middle aged men can make mistakes often. He was thinking about the Laois and Longford game. Apologies, no disrespect to Laois at all. Great team and Great county.

What our the neturals view on this one? Do they give us a shout?

Even after beating them in the league I feel were outsiders but not hopeless underdogs like other years. I don't envy whoever has to referee the game there will be alot of 'markers' laid down early doors

Ticket situation down here is insane if the match lives up to the hype the atmosphere will be electric

I think Kilkenny by 5. They have too much for ye. I would like to see a ref who lets the game flow but is not slow to clamp down on any wild strokes or any play which may deserve a free to be given.

Any word yet on whether or not Padraig Walsh will be available? If not, the Cats could be in trouble at the back as they really have looked unsettled there. Wexford now look as good as Kilkenny physically & the home environs of Wexford Park should ensure a really tight battle. The fact that Davy will be in the stand could actually be a positive for Wexford. Can't wait for it!

This is one thread that didn't need hurling in brackets! Its not like they play anything else down Noreside! For what it's worth, I think Wexford will win this!

I'd like to say Wexford but again this is Kilkenny very mixed bag league hammered by Clare, drawing with Tipp nothing overly exciting in the wins over Cork and Dublin. I think they will be unleashed by Cody and probably win by 8 points plus. Just get that funny feeling. Wexford need goals in this one Kilkenny will beat them picking off points if they don't rattle the net.
Everyone wants to see a Wexford win as it would open up the championship hope they can but doubt it.

It's good that this game will be in a packed-out Wexford Park rather than a 3-quarters empty Croke Park, it will make for a brilliant atmosphere and Wexford will obviously feel like they have a much better chance there than in Croker. I know it's a cliche but Wexford Park really is a difficult place to go to, as Cork found out last year. The default position in Kilkenny is that it will be though but we should come out on top by 4 or 5, but then again that's what I thought before the league match and Wexford did a number on us that day.

Kilkenny will get their fill of it from a pumped up Wexford, but I think they'll have the experience to get the points when the game is in the mix and pull away with 5 to 10 to go.

Kilkenny by 7 or 8 for me, which in hurling terms isn't a big margin.

these are usual the games where everyone talks about one team and forgets it's Kilkenny the past masters of tearing up the ideal script and going with the Kilkenny script, purposeful, clinical and focused. Enough class and know how to win by 5 plus.

Cant wait Wexford IMO have often been beaten before taking to the pitch V the Cats , wont be the case this time , possibly the opposite they need to keep cool heads hurl like they can, and as difficult as it sounds they have to not play the jersey , do that and we have a thriller on our hands , this is championship this is Kilkenny no more needs to be said

I think Kilkenny will be coming down to set the record straight....they will be so up for this that I think they will just have too much for us.
Any updates on Kilkenny injuries?

Yeah? Are you referring to the Cork defeat in Semple Stadium?

If Wexford can keep their discipline in check it will be close, if not its KK's day.
