For anyone interested, Eamon McGee gave a very open and insightful interview this week on the podcast about about the difficulties that retiring brought and other struggles he went through in earlier years involving panic attacks, anxiety and drinking. at least he has brought it out into the open, when you see a man of his size and stature struggling and putting on the game face to try and get through, it just goes to show it can happen to anyone. As far as i'm concerned the gaa do not do enough to prepare players for "the big time" and even less to help with the withdrawl symptoms after wards. the gpa are getting there with their programmes for drink, gambling psychology etc it's definitely good to talk before it's too late and I;m talking from experience of not talking and going over the edge to be plucked back half way down
