Will Rugby Take Over From Gaelic Football

(Oldest Posts First)

Will rugby become the top sport in Ireland in the next 10 years ?

Looking at the Munster and Leinster teams in the rugby champions cup quarter-finals last weekend and you see the number of players who hail from places where none or very little was played in the past you have to say that it is making big inroads into the GAA areas

There's a very long, bitter and boring thread that's only recently stopped being added to on this subject.

I bet there will be a hundred pages on this non topic, with two posters in particular going into overdrive!

I really hope that this take over would happen already so we can stop talking about it.

Yes rugby has that international factor and the four provinces. To their credit, Leinster, Munster and Connaught have, on most occasions, performed with pride and distinction. And yep unfortunately, rugby gets that over exposure from our Dublin 4 oval ball loving media. But what else? Outside of Limerick, Cork, Baile Atha Cliath and some of the other bigger towns. A couple of clubs in each county and they mostly up to their butt in debt. We have not one but two vastly superior products. Apart from the financial aspect which will undoubtedly attract some of the more talented kids, what the heck are we worried about? Thread is far too like a previous effort which bored the pants off most of us. It is ended here.
