Galway haven't won a match in croke park since 2001..they struggled against Kildare B team today at home,so i can't really imagine galway doing any better against Kildare full strength team !

If you could read anything into today's game then Kildare should win easily but who knows. Think these finals are a bit meaningless both sides have achieved what they set out to do with promotion.

Congrats to both on promotion.

Hopefully a trip to Galway next year.

Well done to Galway finishing top of the division and to win today without a number of first choice players.. The added bonus of a league Final next Sunday should stand to us later on.

Jeez we're in right trouble if you have them all back the next day! We put all our best lads out in the second half and still couldn't beat an under strength Galway.:Hope O'Neill tears them to shreds before next subday!!

Why would he need to do that? it was a close Game, he brought on a lot of your first choice players in the second half and ran us close.. Damien Comer will miss next Sun but I would expect Danny Cummins, Declan Kyne Michael Daly and Gareth Bradshaw to start and possibly one or two more of the successful 21s to be used..

In fairness it will be a very different game next Sunday. No pressure on the Lillies today with promotion achieved in advance. It was clear today that Damien Comer was missed big time as aside from his goal threat he consumes the minds of multiple opposition defenders in any match leaving space for our quick half forward line to get in on goal on the shoulder. He is also largely unstoppable under a high ball unless he is fouled. It was never going to be easy for Galway today and bottom line promotion and table toppers was achieved. Kildare obviously have a good panel and probably favs next Sunday but in the heel of the hunt the final will impact little on either side's championship aspirations.

O'Neill will have nothing but praise for that young team, did a lot better than anyone expected, was more tongue in cheek. We'll have at lestt 13 changes to our starting line up next week unless Cian wants to try a few of todays guys again.

I fancy Galway to win, should be a close game and a good one too in the wide spaces of Croke Park, the extra game will be of benefit to both

Congratulations to both teams, a lot to look forward to beginning with the league final.
Both teams will improve and both will want to win so it should be a decent game. Last year we got promoted from division 3 so it's a great achievement to move forward and achieve back to back promotions with a week to spare.
Kildare by 2

Don't think you can read anything into a margin of victory. I mean Sice missed an open goal when Galway were 5 up. That goes in, Galway probably hammer Kildare. Still wouldn't make Kildare a bad team. Kildare are a good team with a strong panel as they showed when putting it up to Galway.

You could see Galway were nervous yesterday. Panicked a couple of times, but got the job done. I would expect a great game next week.

This match doesn't matter in a Meath mans opinion, I get it... Meath aren't playing so it doesn't matter.
An awful lot of sour Meath grapes on the airwaves the last few days. Kildare earned the right to rest some of their players against Galway and anyone disputing that is foolish. Next year Meath should take it seriously and not get beaten by 10 points in the opening match.
Looking forward to a run out in Croker with a chance of silverware, and then the Division one final which doesn't matter to me.
