Monaghan V Dublin

Is anyone giving us a chance?

Obviously its going to be very tough. I think we can keep it very close and would not be too surprised to get a draw.

Would love that win though...

I would definitely give Monaghan a chance this weekend. They weren't at their best last weekend but still managed not to lose which is a positive sign. They have pushed Dublin really close in Croke Park the last 2 years so I would expect no different in Clones this weekend. Jack McCarron has been in sensational form and Conor McManus is still the best inside forward around so they will cause Dublin plenty of problems. Monaghan have a very experienced defensive unit who won't give up any easy scores. I think this one will finish a point or 2 either way and a draw is a strong possibility.

Is a draw not as good as a loss if the chasing pack win tho?

Monaghan are a soft-ground team and will be able to disrupt Dublin. If the 2 meet again in August id expect Dublin to waltz it but this weekend should be close. Id still go for Dublin by 5 or 6. They're in great form with players pushing for places and a final to be reached.

great form ?

not sure about that ..........

We've been okay in this league campaign and that's it. (by our high standards anyway)

We will enjoy being back in Clones, but realistically Dublin to canter home by 6+. Hoping for a few good displays from our younger lads.

More then a chance Dublin haven't got out of third gear in this campaign so far and we haven't traveled particularly well either.

I'd be hoping for something closer to our last meeting in Croke Park than our last meeting in Clones!

Overall it's been a very good league for us with the blooding of more young players and others stepping up to take more responsibility. Anything more at this stage will be a bonus, but this is the kind of game that will have the lads well motivated. McCarron's performance has been the biggest plus for us this spring, but it's just as well with McManus being fairly quiet by his standards. This weekend would be a good time for a return to form, and he has enjoyed playing Dublin any time Rory O'Carroll isn't there.

Hard to look past the Dubs when they're back close to full strength at the end of the league, but you never know. Either way it's a good test ahead of the summer, and as I say anything more will be a pleasnt surprise.

We are gonna win this.............reason is we have been beaten by a point the last two meetings, with Conor McManus playing out of his skin, with no Dublin Defender able to mark him.Now we have Jack McCarron, another Gem of a free scoring forward, add in a settled Kieran Hughes in midfield along with his Brother and we now have a stable platfrom that we have missed since Eoin Lennon and Dick Clerkin retired.

Our Backs as a unit are among the best in the Country,if we keep out the early goals we will come out on top because this team knows it needs to win this game to get to the next level.

Getting to the NFL Division 1 Final is serious progress and most teams who get there and happen to win it are able to win the All Ireland............this is were we need to be,this is were we have to be if we want to progress as a serious Football team that are hell bent on winning a first All Ireland.......So i expect us to go flat out and give one of our best performances that would see us topple another All Ireland winning team in Clones!!

Kerry and tyrone went flat out too but there's nothing you can do about the soft frees they get in closing 10-15 mins in most games ..I think yez will definitely give it up to them but just watch the last few minutes yez won't get any 50 50 decisions and could be pulled up for tackling ..remember your league game last year mcmanus disposesed dublin defender inside 45 and could of levelled it but ref gave a free out ..kerry last and this year same and tyrone this year ...zzzz

Monaghan at 10/3 are an excellent bet

I hope we put in a good performance and if we do we have a chance. But in the league so far this year we have played well in patches and not so well in others. It took until the second half and two men down to play a bit against Tyrone. We had a 10 min spell either side of HT against Cavan that earned that draw. Played OK last week in first half, went missing and then awoke for the last 10. Against Mayo we started well and then went missing again before HT to let them back into it. Though we had a good second half that day. Kerry was just good in poor conditions! And even against the Rossies we got ahead only to be pegged back before HT before eventually pulling away.

If we give Dublin a 10-15 minute spell on Sunday we could get wiped out with no return. Cut out this lapse and you just never no

No reason Monaghan can't put it up to us on Sunday, I genuinely think they have a great chance!

I see this current Dublin team go all the way unbeaten through the league and championship, picking up every piece of silverware out there!

They'll definitely test the Dubs shoulders anyway. Monaghan are probably one of the hardest hitting teams around, they can look after themselves.

Monaghan are a top side

Capable of beating anyone

They've beaten Kerry, Mayo, and drawn with Donegal

Even gave Tyrone plenty to think about with only 13 men

This is arguably Dublin's most difficult game to date, and away from home, could well be difficult conditions under foot

Dublin will need to produce their best away performance of the campaign, anything else and I can easily see Monaghan causing a lot of problems for Dublin.

Dubs defence down the middle needs to be strong, a better defensive performance needed compared to last game.

Tough game ahead, can't see more than a few scores in it either way

I expect a very difficult game for Dublin, mc Manus will have to be watched very closely.
I've every faith in this Dublin team to get a result against Monaghon , but it wouldnt be a shock if we didnt , will be interesting what team Dublin starts. Fenton and Flynn could be very important for us in this game . That's if Flynn starts .

If we keep our wits about us, then we have a real chance.

...and I do feel this isn't the only game between these two sides in 2017

Don't get why there's any doubt, Monaghan have had a good league, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dublin lose this one, obviously be disappointed but Monaghan have it in them to beat anyone, are at home and have a league final to play for..

Dublin will have to be at their best

I'd take a draw right now if it was offered, that would put Dublin at 10pts and let our positive points difference do the business

Just speaking for myself but when I saw that our last game would be up in Monaghan, I was hoping Dublin would have already done enough to qualify...
